Thursday...

Thursday often seems to be a sort of "non-day". Not in the middle, but not Friday. It just fills in the space between Humpday and Friday.

But today is a great day. For a change I started the day by taking the dog for a walk. This is normally Mrs RC's job (I do the evening walk) but today she had other things to deal with. The walk was really nice and set me up for the day.

It is quiet at work now - I am able to cruise along at my own speed, with The Lord of the Rings playing on a TV nearby.

My mom and dad are talking again. You would think that a couple who divorced 35 years ago would have sorted themselves out by now wouldn't you?

Looks like Mrs RC and her sister have found a really nice retirement home for my FIL. His cancer is very advanced but he is still able to enjoy life, so a nice place close by will be great - much better than having him living on the other side of the country.

Had a wonderful lunch too! Nachos with chili beef, salsa, refried beans etc, followed by a big slice of cheesecake. Oh yeah.

Well, work calls again! Hope your Thursday is at least as good as mine is!

UPDATE!

Today just gets better and better! Just found out that I won £50 on the lottery last night! Not life-changing, of course, but much better than a poke in the eye!

It's recognising the good little things in the day and appreciating them, that turns what might seem average to good, isn't it?

It made me smile about your parents still bickering years after divorcing. Mine were the same, yet could rarely go a day without some form of contact together. Funny the ties that bind, eh?

Maybe you should walk the dog more often. It seems to agree with you. Your lunch sounds great. I think it is asking too much for some people to speak reasonably to each after a divorce. My parents didn't speak and my mother enjoyed getting in her digs about the father whenever she could. Congrats on the win!!

I always thought the days seemed better when I started them with a morning walk. Not an option for me anymore.

I'm not all that surprised that your parents aren't speaking reasonably to each other. Clearly they didn't like each other enough to live together. Some people stay married and still behave that way!

I'm glad to hear Mrs. R/C found a nice place for her dad. I'm sure it is a big relief for her to have him close by these days.

Congrats on your win! It really is your lucky day!

Glad you enjoy your walk with the dog.

I walked my ferret to the shops once and it was a most memorable experience. People LOOKED and STARED. Even a few followed me home.

Gosh. I felt molested. My ferret felt like a celebrity. :)

A walk AND cash!!! Walking has always been too slow for me...

As much as I sometimes grumble about my pre-dawn walks with both dogs, it actually opens up the day for me. Nothing like getting some fresh air to start the brain functioning. I wind up doing the morning and evening duty, but really enjoy it.

Glad Ms RC found a place for FIL. It is good that he is closer to you guys so that you have a chance to spend more time with him. It may not seem like much, but the time we have is very precious and passes too quickly.

Congrats on the lottery win. Nice way to start the day!

....ummmm, isn't anything better than a "poke in the eye"? That is a great saying!!!!

I love the days that start out like that, calm and giving me the chance to sort out things before they are thrown at me. Really glad to hear that Mrs. RC has found a lovely place for her dad, so important to take care of those daddies!!
