Musical Time Travel - Later Teens

By the age of 18 I worshipped Rush....

Always amazed me how 3 guys could produce such a full sound...

Much as I loved Rush, I do love a comment that Jack Black made when the movie Pick of Destiny came out. He listed all the bands who had owned it, and then added that Rush didn't have it - if they did their lyrics wouldn't have been so lame!

But lame lyrics never got in the way of great Rock!

Man, I haven't listened to Rush in years. That brings back memories. I always loved their range of music. I wore out several of their albums in my tape deck.

Okay, Trees is a pretty lame song. Where's my thing?

I can't say I ever really knew the lyrics to any Rush song. Even listening to this one, I had to go look them up. Trees IS an odd song, but I don't really think the song is about trees. And if you imagine what more it might be about... people... then it's not lame at all. It's true and rather sad.

agg79 - Good stuff! I bought Exit Stage Left on CD an year or so back...

wigsf - What thing?

Terri - I always thought it was about Britain (the Oaks) and Canada (the Maples). But you looked up the words? Cool!

You're talking about one of my all-time favorite bands! I always thought the lyrics were one of Rush's strong points, though there have been a few duds here and there. Jack Black was probably just put off by the fact that they don't sing about sex.
