This is the song that was always playing in the cafe that we hung around in when I was at college:
As a huge Bowie fan I never minded.
While at college I had a huge crush on one of the girls. I was totally wasting my time, of course, (she went for older guys with cars and money).
This was also a time when I was in lots of bands - bass players, especially ones that wanted to play Rock and not Jazz-funk, were in short supply so I was often in 3 bands at once! I got very good at learning new songs very fast! I also played a wide range of gigs, some great, some crushingly embarassing but all a great learning experience...

I was into Jerry Jeff Walker and Willie Nelson back in my college days. I played drums in high school but never pursued it far enough. Still, you had some great experiences back in college with all of that band time.
I was into Bowie when I was in college too. But I was also into Bowie when I was in high school and grade school and pretty well all the time before that. I cannot remember a time I didn't know and love the music of David Bowie. Aw heck, I was singing Cat People in the shower this morning. Don't ask me why, it just popped in there this morning.
That's the way my hubby describes being in the bands too, just got more experience and learned new songs fast.I always liked the way David Bowie spoke. Of course I liked his music but the accent did me in.
agg79 - It was a good time. Maybe you should get a drum kit and try again?
wigsf - He has done some fantastic songs. And he is great live - saw him in the late 80s - stunning!
TechnoBabe - Why do people like English accents so much? I guess I can't see it because I am English!
I'm really liking these musical flashbacks so far! :)
Moody Minstrel - Happy to hear it!
I always thought David Bowie was weird when I was young. I couldn't appreciate his music until I was older.
I loved Bowie back in the day and love him still now....saw him concert once when he was with Tin Machine....magical and amazing!!!
Terri - Well he was more than a bit a bit weird, especially compared to The Osmonds!
Kiki - I know and I am eternally jealous!
