According my my son's calendar today is Pie Day!
What a great thing to celebrate!
We are having pie today in honour of this, moving pizzas to tomorrow, which will probably mess me up again making me think that Sunday is Saturday, etc, etc. My wife and the kids will be making savoury pies while I intend to do some banoffee pies for dessert. Yum!
Hope you manage to join in the festivities!
BIG GREEN TICK.
What does that conjure up?
For me, a tick is a blood-sucking parasite, making this a big green parasite that is looking for a hedgehog to get stuck into. Perhaps it is a 1950s sci-fi horror movie that I had not heard of before, featuring dodgey stop-motion animation, mad professors with pretty daughters and teenagers being played by actors in their mid-30s.
Actually, it is the name of a new range of food! For some reason I don't want to eat it!

It's pie day and no one told me! So the wife and kids are making "savory pies?" For dinner? Like pot pies? And I just googled banoffee so I understand what you're making and my mouth is watering!
Big Green Tick will conjure up nightmares for me.
Terri - "Pot pies"? Pies with pot in them? :-) Banoffee is wonderful - I thought it was an American thing but you had to Google it?
I had to google it too...
I love savory pies...I have a great recipe for one w/turkey and sweet potatoes and the crust has cream cheese in it...
pot pie is when the pie crust is only on the top....a lot of times, the top can be corn bread or biscuits too...but they're savory pies, not sweet.
Hm... I could use some pie! right now... in class! mmmmm
tz - Wow, that pie sounds really good! Can I have the recipe? I assumed that was what a pot pie was, but I can't help pulling Terri's leg from time to time.
Zig - I hate being hungry in class, it really messes up the concentration. I sometimes take a bag of sweets in with me just to keep me going!
Mmmm, Pie!
I had to Google banoffee, too. Sounds awesome.
You said the family was making savory pies, as in plural. Are they different types of full sized pies? Personal sized pies? What do you pur into them? Inquiring minds want to know (or maybe I am just super-nosey!)
I bet your house is going to smell awesome tonight.
I want some pie!
Sure.... pull MY leg! Pick on me! That's ok. I can take it! You're lucky I like you, or I'd never let you get away with it!
Then again... pies with pot in them... could be a new twist on the old brownie idea.
Love the pies and am gagging on the Big Green Tick - yuck - my imagination just takes over and I just can't go there!
Michele - they did a range of different pies and we had some of each - good old steak and kidney; ham, cheese and onion; one that had sausage meat inside and was in the shape of a pig; there was another one too, but I didn't get any and don't know what was in it. It was great.
Mindy - Can Paco cook pie? I bet he can!
Terri - Now who is pulling MY leg!
Claire - You just don't want to think about it do you? But I bet you can make a good pie, can't you?
Pie is about the only sweet I eat. Pot pies are good too.
I wouldn't touch food named tick.
Yummo....I love pie days....especially with mushy green peas ! yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummm xoxox
I lovvvvvvve making pies and eating pies - when I was about 10 or 11 I asked for a banana creme pie for my birthday - I am a serious pie person! Will TZ share the meat pie recipe??? Cream cheese crust!
Wreggie - Good choices, both of them!
Sitting in Silence - You like mushy peas? I have never been convinced about them...
Claire - I emailed TZ to see if she will share her recipe.
