Don't get me wrong, I love pasta in some dishes - lasagne, carbonara, a good boulognese, etc will see me drooling.
But to me, pasta salads are an abomination. I detest them with a passion!
Or I did!
Last night I ended up playing around with my food, mixing everything together and came up with something that was utterly wonderful. I share it here for your pleasure.
Rockin' Reggae Pasta Salad
Mix together:
Shredded Chicken
Pasta (twist, bows, etc)
Shredded lettuce
Red onion
Sweet Corn
Whole baby tomatoes
Cucumber
Now add a good splash of balsamic vinegar
Now add a good squirt of Reggae Reggae Ketchup
Mix the lot together.
Fall in love with pasta salad!
I am going to be making a load of this next time we have a barbeque, probably without the chicken...

Ooh, that does sound fantastic. I have never been good at experimental cooking, but I'll be happy to trust your creations!
When I was in Italy I had a pasta with a pesto sauce. First time I ever tried it. Hated it. Your pasta salad tastes nice though.
yeah, think i'll make it w/out the chicken... sounds delicious!
Terri - Let me know if you do try it!
Sid - I really have to be in the mood for pesto - which isn't often! I think you would like my salad - got a bit of kick to it!
I have to respectfully disagree...I'm a lover of pasta salad! Your's sounds good too...we don't have raeggee ketchup here though. How is it different that regular ketchup?
Teresa - "Respectfully disagree"? You crack me up! Reggae Reggae ketchup has go chilis and stuff in it.
Sounds good.
It was sounding OK until it got to the vinegar and ketchup. I am weird I know, but I hate anything on my salad, even oil ruins it for me....I just like crunchy plain fresh vegetables.
Sounds interesting. One of my favs is Ditalini pasta(little rounds), chopped romaine, feta, bacon, tomato, carrot, peppers, cucumbers, + dressing (greek, italian, ranch, whatever you like).
Wreggie - Thanks - I love it!
James - I used to be like that, but was won over by vinegrete dressing and then just plain balsamic vinegar. Fantastic!
Jenelle - Ooh, bacon and feta! That sounds great!
Weird. I'm not huge on pasta salads either unless it's a tuna or salmon salad that I make with fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, dill, lemon juice, olive oil, parsley as well as salt & pepper to taste. It's heart healthy if you don't use a ton of olive oil. . . .
Yours does sound nice. I wasn't sure about the Ketchup until you explained it's more of a spicy type ketchup. Now I'm hungry! Time for breakfast (for me) - no pasta salad though. Just a piece of toast. And Soy milk. Boring. Yep, I know.
did you say ketchup?
hmmmm . . . . I don't know. I'm a firm believer of Olive Oil and Vinegar.
Jen - Soy milk? [Shudder]
Miss Got Wings - Spicey ketchup!
Yummooooo...sounds great...
