It has been a long time since the town had one of these places. There was one once, but it was closed down. It is the sort of place that you know you should stay away from, but you can't help yourself.
I went there the other evening. It was a wargames evening, I was going straight to a friend's house after work. The journey took me right past the new place. I tried to resist, but it was no use.
I entered, avoiding looking at the other guilty customers, keeping down the fear of seeing someone that I knew - how would I deal with THAT?
I looked at what was on offer. Large? Small? Exotic? Should I really give in and have more than one?
Eventually I made my choice - I will spare you the details.
But maybe it was the guilt? I don't know. It wasn't as good as I had expected it to be. There seemed to be something missing, something that left me unfulfilled....

Has Colonel Sanders changed his recipe after all these years?

Life is too short to waste the fat and calories on bad fried chicken.
I fry my own now once in a while. It is good and not greasy.
Wreggie - I think that was the problem, to be honest - I do my own now too and it is far better than the stuff I bought with such high expectations!
Sneaky!
I thought it was strippers!
I haven't had KFC since high school for the exact same reason you found yesterday, it was no longer as good as it used to be. Weird, eh? It used to be so good & something HAS changed!
Miss M - How could you! :-)
Jen - maybe the secret recipe included something that is now illegal. Maybe that is why it is secret!
Blech. I despise KFC. Especially the skin. Yuck, yuck, yuck.
Though really...I don't like fried chicken in general.
Ali - A couple of days ago that would have severely disappointed me! But not now! I will not be rushing back to see the Colonel...
We used to indulge once a year, but the fat damn near killed us...
Old age eh?
I love the extra crispy kind, but I always regret it afterwards. Did you see they're now offering Kentucky Grilled Chicken?
mmmm - love fried chicken!!! soooo unhealthy , but emotionally it's very healthy! :) hehe - I don't fry my own, but If I did I would do it every day! :)
We have one out in one of the retail parks but not in the town centre. I have never been there. It just doesn't appeal.
I hope not...I loveeeeeeeeee KFC....Yummo
We just had one store open about 10 minutes from my door.....
I'm with Ali....fast food in general though is kind of yuck for me, I have a funny tummy and usually that kind of thing does not agree with me!!
Nat - Yes - luckily I had some beer later on to wash it down :-)
Terri - Grilled? That hasn't made it here yet. Sounds interesting, though!
Zig - So do I, which is why I was so disappointed!
James - Doesn't appeal to me now, either!
Sitting in Silence - There is another one being built near where I live too, but after this experience I don't really care that much. Are you OK to eat stuff like that? I don't think you have said whether you are on a special diet at the moment.
Kiki - Probably the best way to be! Just think, all that treadmilling you do could so easily be ruined by junk food!
I could pass on the KFC chicken, but their potatoes and gravy is awesome. Love it.
I have the same kind of guilt about McD's, I haven't at there in years, but when I go in I almost feel the need to tell people that I don't actually mean to be in the store...
Oh...You are BAD!!! LOL!!! If I didn't know you better RC!!
LOL!!
For me, KFC is one of those things that sound soooo good till about 5 minutes after you ate it. Burger King too.
Don't get me wrong...I LOVE fastfood!!
NO! I cannot let you subject yourself to poorly fried chicken. And furthermore, a company that ABUSES the chickens that end up in the fryer. Oh no. Stay away rc!
