Coping strategies

I am weary. Tired, sort of. Not sure why. I am not having trouble riding the bike, but when I sit quietly somewhere my eyes want to close so I can drift off and dream of... whatever.

I fought it through a lecture on Tuesday.

I fought it watching TV with the family last night.

Today I had a big meeting to go to. I really did not want to doze off in the middle of that!

So I had a plan.

A cunning plan.

An amazing plan!

A plan that might change the world as we know it if it gets out!

It was inspired by a strategy that was devel0ped for soldiers doing guard duty in the trenches in the First World War, staring out into darkness for endless hours. They would put their bayonette onto their rifle and then stand with their chin resting on the point. If they dozed, the point stabbed them in the chin.

But I didn't have a bayonette with me.

But, as I headed to the meeting

I...

did...

want...

a...

pee!

So I didn't visit the loo, I held it!

Sure kept me awake!

Sounds like a good plan initially, but if you get so uncomfortable that all you could think of was going to the restroom, what good was it to be in the meeting?

Really, I think that tired feeling has to do with winter. All I want to do these days is sleep.

That 'feeling' drives me crazy!! I HATE having to pee. Always happens to me on airplanes and I blame the girl who once was sitting in the aisle seat of my row and was rude to me...now I live in fear of having to pee on an airplane and it inevidably produces urine in me.

Hmm, lucky you didn't fall asleep AND pee your pants...
Wouldn't that have been a major backfire ;)

Terri - Luckily I didn't get THAT uncomfortable. I think you are right - rollon summer! I want to go camping!

Teresa - Funny how things like that stay with you, isn't it? But I am just afraid of the toilets themselves!

Ali - Trust YOU to suggest that scenario!

That kind of plan could backfire on you, if you are not careful. What if someone cracks a joke or says something funny? It could lead to serious consequences.

I am at the point in life where I leave nothing to chance. I try to take care of business before I hop on the elevator at work. Our lifts are occasionaly tempramental sometimes and you might wind up stuck between floors for a few hours.

You crack me up!! and i love how you keep us hanging on right until the end!!

i'm w/ Terri about the tired feeling... perhaps we're supposed to be hibernating at this time of year? just a thought:)

Kenady - I think bears have got it right. Except for saving up a whole winter of grumpy mornings - that must suck, especially if some bozo with a gun tries to shoot you!

lol... that's funny. good strategy!

i was once sitting on a jury and had the same problem... found myself nodding off several times, barely able to keep my eyes open. and it seemed the more i tried to stay awake, the more tired i became.

wonder if ppl would look oddly if you tried resting your head on a freshly sharpened pencil. ;)

This is good in theory, until you sneeze. Try wearing ladies underwear next time.
