Me topless? Nah!

This post was inspired by Claire at The Beauty of Bamboo and her post about her feet.

I was considered a bit of a lump when I was born. My older brother was early and weighed less than 6 pounds. When I turned up at 8 pound 3 my poor mom had trouble and I got stuck with my head out, screaming at the top of my little lungs, but the rest well and truly wedged.

In a situation like this they normally used the dreaded forceps, but in my case there was no doctor around to oversea the procedure so the midwife just grabbed what she could and got me out.

I have had no ill effects from this rough treatment, but I do have marks in the form of dents in my ribs! On the left I have a shallow indent about 6 inches across, while in the right I have a smaller, deeper dent - I think of these as the midwife's fingers and thumb respectively! They do not show up as much now as they did when I was a painfully thin teenager with not a single chest hair in sight, but I still do not like showing off my chest in public. Thinking about the chest hair, I only started getting that when I turned 40! Talk about a late developer! Ha!

The other thing about my chest is that I have 3 nipples - 2 normal ones and a smaller one below the left one. My wife says that I must be a Warlock, the 3rd nipple being to feed my familiar! Either way, it adds to the "interesting" look of my chest.

Hi John thanks for commenting on my blog. Yes Salute was great, lots to see. Some Maniac put on a 1/35 Arnhem game...the table was 72 feet long with 100 vehicles and 600 figures..it had taken the chap 2 years to paint them all and make the scenery.
I will be updating my blog soon.
Interesting about your 3rd nipple mate...ever thought about having it pierced just for fun?

James - that Arnhem game sounds mad - must have been the guy that did Sword Beach in 1/35th a couple of years ago. No, I will not be having the extra nipple pierced! Just the thought makes me cringe!

I can see it now... a new meme: "Body parts that aren't allowed to see the light of day!" This would be so easy!

On second thought, I won't be posting about my stomach any time soon!

tripple nipples are cool! - I'm in that club too - My doc told me mine was from a needle that I got when I was a kid, infection, mutation, bla bla bla - but I think that was just him trying to tell me I don't have 3 nipples - (plus, the doc that told me that wasn't around when I was born, so what does he know...) - Mine is also smaller, and on the left side... It's what makes me so awesome - (i think)

Thanks - I love it!!! If I can wear flip-flops you can go shirtless!!! One of my daughters dated the son of a podiatrist - he said once to me or told my daughter - can't remember which - that his dad could reallllly help me - but he said it in such a caring way that I could never be offended - this has really been a "cleansing" experience - "talking" about it on the blog!

From what I understand, having 3 nipples is a very common thing. I guess it never seemed that weird to me, though, come to think of it, I've never seen a "third" nipple. . . .

It goes to show that we all think we have our flaws. I'm not even going to mention mine. . . . I'm too embarrassed.

P.S. The meme idea really made me laugh!!!

Rock Chef, I love that you and my mom are commiserating about the oddities of your bodies...so I thought I'd point out that while my mom does have large feet, she passed on long toes to all her girls. In fact, we call them "finger toes", we have contests amongst ourselves to see who can pick up the biggest items, the heaviest with our toes. See the oddities are growing!

Terri - Your stomach? If you are talking about stretchmarks and stuff they are a badge of honour!

Zig - You have got an extra one too? Mine is smaller too, but clearly a nipple. I think we should start up a special society for people like us!

Claire - Hey, you are right! Watch our summer, here comes my chest! :-)

Jen - It probably is fairly common - Zig has got one, so that might give some idea of the chances. No pressure to reveal your flaw, but if you ever run out of blog topics...

Claire again - I did too!

Rachael - Glad you enjoyed it. Do you have anything "cool" about you?

Kiki - my eldest son has "finger toes", but I don't think he uses them as much as he should do. Love the idea of the contest, what a great family!

Oh so many thought after reading the comments...

To begin...my eyes teared up after you telling Terri that stretch marks are a badge of honor...I know you really mean that. Your one heck of a guy RC!

And Kiki...finger toes and contests to pick up the biggest things...LOL...LOL...LOL...too funny...and COOL!!

John-isn't it so cleansing to reveal these things? I respect your for it. My front tooth is crooked and I feel like I have buck teeth. I have always hated that. Then of course my one toes sticks up a little further than the rest and I hate that too. It took me FOREVER to wear flip flops. But as I have grown and matured now I like it when I see someone with an "interesting" thing about them...one it makes me feel better about mine and two...it makes the world go round...what's "normal" anyway? Maybe more people have 3 nipples than have 2! I wouldn't doubt it!

Logzie - If child birth had been the man's job, Adam and Eve would have been the ONLY people, not just the first! But I guess God knew that too!

I had never realised you had a crooked tooth - they always look perfect to me!

And you are right - differences make the world go round. Imagine a world full of Paris Hiltons! No, try not to it is too horrible!

hubby has three nipples himself...the third now covered with hair

Did you have any idea so many people out there have a third nipple?

Rock Chef said...

tz - Another one! Soon those with only 2 will be feeling like the mutants! Haha!

I am in stitches over this one. Having 3 nips "takes the cake". I don't know if any one could beat that and on top off that it must be nice to know that you are not alone. Who knew that 2 other people had been blessed with the same phenomenon. It makes me wonder if how many more there are out there. It would be fun to find out.

My oddity: I can touch the tip of my tongue to the tip of my nose. People always get a hoot out of this, to me it's normal. Like Logzie said "What is normal any way?"

Chachi - Hm wonder if anyone out there has 4 nips? I think it is odd that all 3 here that have extras are guys - maybe it doesn't happen to women? You can lick the end of your nose? Wow, that is a cool one! It would make eating cream cakes so much easier if I could do that!
