Stealing WIGSF's Christmas Meme

Just time for something short and sweet.  I don't think that Wigsf matches that description but this meme does!

Here goes:

1. What do you really want for Christmas but you know nobody will get it for you?  A horrible Christmas sweater.

2. What do you not want for Christmas but you know that somebody will get it for you?  I don't tend to get presents that I don't want - call me Mr Lucky!

3. When do you open your gifts (Christmas eve or Christmas morning)?  Christmas morning.  When the kids were younger we used to split them and have some in the afternoon too.

4. Do you prefer gifts wrapped or in gift bags?  Wrapped.  I love ripping paper, struggling with sticky tape, etc.

 5. Did you re-gift anything this year?  No.  As I said, I don't tend to get things I don't want.

 6. What’s your favourite Christmas movie?  A Christmas Story, as most of you will already know.  It is on right now.

 7. What’s your favourite Christmas TV special?  Looking forward to the Warehouse 13 one this year...

8. Do you like eggnog?  Haven't tried it in years, but Mrs RC is doing some this year...

 9. Real tree or fake tree, which do you prefer?  I love the look of a real tree, and the challenge of finding a nice one and getting it home.  We have had a fake one for years now (since we started having crawling babies), but that might change in the next year or so.

10. Would you actually use one of those fireplace DVDs if you don’t have a fireplace?  We don't have a real fireplace, but Mrs RC built one which she puts up at Christmas.  It includes a grate with logs lit up by red and orange Christmas lights.

11. Are you sick of Christmas music yet?  Of course not!  Except for the later versions of Band Aid...

12. Are you getting up early to wait in line to do some Boxing Day shopping?  No f-ing way.  Some times are sacred and this is one of them!

13. When was the last time you sat on Santa’s lap?  I can't remember EVER sitting on Santa's lap, to be honest.  I went from finding him terrifying to finding him creepy with little in between.

So there you have it!

Today is my last day of work! Yes, I know.  Don't hate be because I am clever!  Blogging will continue through the holiday, though, so don't despair!  :-)

Have a great weekend.

Whey-hey, playtime has begun, don't forget to lock up before you go home.

Aw, you are the sweetest guy ever, I love your response to the one about unwanted pressies. The Chrismas tree one made me smile, as soon as the babes were out of nappies, we swapped our fake tree (well, gave it to Sam's "Rainbow Room" group) over in favour of a real one each year. We used "pottable" ones we could plant in the garden, so they were always good for a couple of years (until they grew too big to dig up again). Long story short, with the eldest not around to help this year, lugging a tree home just felt too much - and for the first time in 15yrs, we've reverted back to a fake one.

(I'm the only one who likes the bloody thing.)

Shrinky - it took me time to adapt to fake trees, but we ended up with one that I rather like even though it is now quite old. Maybe this will be its last year, we will see.

You totally have the face for a horrible Christmas sweater. In fact, I think you should wear them all year round. That could be your thing. You could be Horrible Christmas Sweater All Year Round Guy.

How much time do you have off work for the holiday? I for one am truly happy for you that you will have quality time with your family. Enjoy your time away from work.

Your wife sounds very talented. Making a fake fireplace is a major job. She sounds like a great person. You both are.

Wigsf - You think so? If I get one I will try to wear it as much as possible - at least until it mysteriously goes missing in the wash...

CiCi - I am off for just over 2 weeks. I always try for a break like that at Christmas, it is really needed. Mrs RC is one of those annoying people who is great at anything she turns her hand to.

You don't get things you don't want... THAT is a gift in itself!

That's right! Mrs. RC built a fireplace. She really is an amazing woman! You don't get gifts you don't like, I'm guessing because you're easy to buy for.

I get a couple of long weekends over the holidays, so I won't complain. Enjoy your long break!

If anyone can pull off a tacky/ugly Christmas sweater, it's you. I'm picturing more of a Star Wars Christmasy theme.

And enjoy the holidays/time off with the family while you can get it. Life's too short to spend it working. Besides, family comes first (especially this time of the year).
