Winning....

I am hoping that I am not being premature in saying that we seem to be winning the war with the cats.

Monday night was the clincher - Mrs RC had spent most of the day trying to make the garden cat-proof, but we were awake most of the night repelling invaders - at least 3 different cats, at one point 2 coming in at the same time.

Last night there were no invaders - a combination of having seen where the weak spots in our defences were (and fixing them yesterday) and perhaps the cats being traumatised by seeing me charging down the garden in my PJs (I think I was wearing them anyway) wielding a metal pole and screaming obsenities.

No, there are no photographs or videos! Some people!  :-)

Since we put critter feed out, we also have drawn a few cats. Consistency is key for sure. Good job on keeping the focus on them. I bought a slingshot but they always run away before I can get it loaded. So I guess it works, in a way. The longer we're here, the less we've seen them.

James - I think that the cats can sense your bad intent when you start loading the slingshot! We thought about this but there is too much chance of colateral damage where we are - the houses are too close together.

Ms K - Thanks - will do!

We would be doing the same thing to protect the bunnies. I want a big squirt gun! But I would have to be on guard for hours!

TechnoBabe - Oh, the time we have spent on patrol...

Hello from Oklahoma and your newest follower. Saw you on Dog Daze comment section, and as I am always reading new blogs, decided to give yours a try! Renegade cats! Yikes, and blood thirsty, too! I'm not sure your dogs are scary enough to keep the cats at bay. You need gophers. I'll ship you some of mine...;)

we have renegade bunnies, and not cute ones like yours....so Jason (the hubsters) will let Hannah out (some kind of boxer-hunter mix) and she will go chasing after the bunnies in our front yard -- she never catches them, but they don't hang in our yard much any more (my flowers are thankful).

Wot, no video? Sheesh, you're such a spoilsport! I'd be tempted to move the bunnies indoors, far less stressful (if smelly)!!

Ninny - Hello! Gophers sound like fun. My dogs do a good job during the day, but we take them in at night which was when we had the trouble.

tz - A friend of mine has the same problem - bunnies treating his garden as an all-you-can-eat restaurant!

Terri - We talked about that on Sunday! You know us so well!

Shrinky - According to my wife, you can get the story by watching at Braveheart battle scene. No room to bring them indoors, but we have now had 2 peaceful nights...
