Random photos

One of me pretending to work, wearing the white shirt that the BBC requested. I don't really like wearing this sort of thing, but my wife liked it, so it is not all bad!

Custard stopping to pose for a photo while on one of our evening walks. What a handsome hound!

These last two are of the memorial garden where I often eat my lunch. Fat Jedi Cat is often here, sleeping or searching for a free lunch. Interestingly, the memorial is to those who died in the First World War, but the dates are 1914 -1919. The usual dates are, of course, 1914 - 1918. I can only assume that this memorial is also for those who took part in the Russian Revolution, trying to restore the Tzar. This is the only thing I can think of that could be thought of a part of the First World War that continued into 1919. Sorry if I got a bit nurdy again there, but I know some of you like it :-)

You look sharp in the white shirt. (Thinking of your wife's reaction to the shirt, ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man" is now buzzing through my head!)

Custard is such an adorable and friendly looking dog!

The memorial garden looks like a great place to spend free time; peaceful and full of history. Your "nerdiness" impresses me. I WISH I knew things like that!

Terri - "Sharp"? I never thought of myself as looking sharp! Custard is a great dog. He has been such a blessing for our family. Glad you like it when I am a nerd!

You look great in that shirt! Woohoo for well dressed men :)

Love Custard too, awwww.

And you are a total nerd, but I'm one of the ones that like it I guess, hehe.

Ali - Hm, maybe I really should invest in a few more white shirts! Wait til you see what I am doing to my V bass guitar - that is much less nerdy, more Spinal Tap...

That's quite an picturesque (another big word...I hope I spelled it right...)place to eat lunch...Wow! How cool! Nerd...I think not...studious...now that's the word. LOL!

Awe...custard is such a cute doggie!

As for the white shirt...yes, I too liked it...did you just have to wear it for the filming? What do you normally wear? See...bring up clothes to a bunch of women and look what happens!! LOL!!

You look great in a white shirt, I alwasy think that the white reflects light back on the face...always a good thing to appear bright and shiny!!!

That dog, Custard does look pretty friendly, even I must admit to that!!!

As for your super cool knowledge of neat places...I say keep them coming, its fun to learn about things like that and pretty much anything historical is interesting!!!

Hi John,

yeah the shirt looks good mate but where is your tie?

I wonder if our American/Canadian friends are aware that there is one of those WWI memorials (although not always as grand) in every village and town in Britain? The one in Rugby is interesting I will take some photos of it. If I go to Daventry (where I used to live) I will photograph the one there too.

Teresa - Studious - I like that! Yes, I wore the white shirt for the cameras. I normally wear tennis style shirts, usually blue.

Zig - Thanks, I know I will get a comment from you if there is a photo involved!

Kiki - Don't encourage me!

Sitting in Silence - We love Custard's eyeliner effect!

James - Maybe not. The thing I find most shocking about some of them is the number of men that many of these small places lost. All of the men in the villages often fought and died together. Weren't Pals Battalions a great idea? :-(

That's so interesting that there's a memorial in every village. And what a beautiful sentiment. And want a fantastic place to have lunch, the pictures look so peaceful.

I always love your photos! and if I could have a dog I would want one just like Custard - Whenever we travelled with my Dad during business trips on the East Coast - my Mom would always take the time to stop and read memorials - and we learned to appreciate them.
