April Showers

This time of year is famous for its April Showers...

This is a light, warm, springlike rain that feeds the plants and invigorates people who have had enough of winter...

It is fun to go for dog walks in it, as there is no need to rush, you can just stroll along chatting, enjoying the day...

All winter I look forward to the spring...

and April Showers...

Except this year, the showers are different...

They are not warm and invigorating...

The showers take the form of balls of frozen snow...

It freezes the face and fingers...

And it really puts the mockers on a romantic stroll across the fields with the dogs...

On a more upbeat note, I think that Mrs RC's passport interview went well yesterday.  I will let her tell the whole story, but we also managed to turn it into a nice day out too!

Hope you are having a good week!

I like being out in a light rain, too. But I've also been showered with those annoying little frozen snow balls that really do put the mockers on things. Next time, I'll remember to think of "puts the mockers on" to help me smile through it!
Yay for a good passport interview! I'm going to apply for my first one soon. There's an interview??

Abby - in the UK they sometimes call you for interview - sometimes it is random, at other times it is because they find something about you suspicious and think it might be someone trying to steal someone else's identity. Mrs RC going for her first passport seems to come into the Suspicious category... Things are probably different in the US.

Puts the mockers on - I'm kinda glad you got snow, otherwise I might never have heard that phrase. I love it!
But now that I've heard it, I sure hope your showers start to turn springy. I think we're about to get our first spring showers - on my race day. That'll put the mockers on me. (Did I say that right?) :)

You need an interview to get a passport there?

ShadowRun300 - It was rain this morning, but only just above freezing so not April Showers in my book. Yes, you did say that right.

Riot Kitty - Not always, I didn't have an interview when I got my passport but a fair number of people do seem to be called in. Guess Mrs RC just got lucky :-)

A nice stroll in the freezing rain with a couple of wet dogs? I can't understand how that would make for a romantic walk.

Interesting to hear you have to get interviewed to get a passport over there. Is that to leave the country or to come back home? Wife and I got ours a few years back for our 1st cruise and it was just a trip down to the local post office and a hefty fee.

Agg79 - Not at all romantic :-(

Not everyone is interviewed, just a random sample plus anyone they think might be suspicious. Identity theft is a big problem over here, so we can't really complain that they are trying to guard against it.

Aww..... Walking in the drizzle....

Used to do that a lot when i was a student, and a teacher in Borneo.

But people here had different ideas when seeing me walking without haste in the rain.

They call it crazy.

Shadowthorne - warm drizzle is great - can't call you crazy for enjoying that!

I've never enjoyed walking in the rain. I don't like the way it makes my hair fall in my eyes and makes my skin feel sticky. I think I would particularly not enjoy the frozen kind!

It was supposed to rain here yesterday. Instead, we got snow. :-(

Glad to hear that the passport interview went well. I'm looking forward to reading Mrs. RC's version of the story.

Atleast they're not accompanied by tornadoes, like they'd be here, in OKC. :)
