And we'll have fun fun fun...

'til her daddy takes the T-bird away....

Well it felt like that sort of weekend, anyway - a couple of days of great summer weather. If we celebrated Labour Day over here it would have been even better. We have August Bank Holiday, which was last Monday.

Saturday saw a bit of leisurely shopping followed by my barbecue - excellent sausages from the butcher and a pile of boneless pork chops that I marinaded in Regae Regae sauce, a Jamaican barbecue sauce. Wonderful! This was eaten with my home made bread rolls, salad and waffles, washed down with cold beer, sparkling wine, Coke, etc. The dog walk was something of an effort after that, let me tell you!

On Sunday I moved my PC into the Rock Shed (as I have now called it) and did a bit of test recording. Great fun! My test piece is a short instrumental that we used to play in one of my old bands as a intro at gigs. It is about half done - should be able to post it soon!

Life has been made a little more exciting recently by the return of my older son's best friend who spent the last year living in Spain. We thought he was coming back for a holiday but he then revealed that he is back for good! He has now moved in with us while his family gets sorted out with a new house, etc. We are all really pleased to see him back and the boys have been making up for lost time, playing computer games against each other until around 3am most nights! If I had a pound for each time I was woken by a cry of "Agh, you nuked my command centre"...

PS - Did you hear about the woman whose car broke down with a flat battery? She walked into a nearby building site and shouted "Can anyone jump me?" True story.

The barbecue sounds wonderful! But you'll have to explain about the waffles... You must be referring to something other than the breakfast waffles I'm familiar with?

How fun for your son to have his best friend living with you for a while! I hope they don't stay up so late when school is back in session!

Terri - Waffles - I think they are like you have - made from potato, we use them like fries.

Once school starts they will be forced into a more normal sleep pattern, we don't want them falling asleep in class!

Ahhh. Yes, we too have waffle fries, but I too was wondering why you would eat a sweet breakfast food with all that lovely food as well? ! I figured it had to be something different than what I know them as! Just different verbiage. It sounds delicious! Learned something new today.

Our Labor Day is today - mine seems as if it'll be spent a bit boring. I may decide to barbecue later today. We'll see. In the meantime I have to hit the grocery store and workout. boring.

Jen - Isn't the language barrier fun? I can never tell what will be understood and what won't! Sometimes I want to explain some things in stupid detail but don't because you might think I am talking to you like small children :-)

Hope the day isn't that boring!

I was wondering the same thing about waffels but now I get it. Waffle fries is what we call them. We also have breakfast waffles...do you have those too? They're like pancakes but square and with indents.

Your weekend sounds great. I kinda forgot it was Labor Day here in the states till you mentioned it. It's just another day w/o my husband taking care of kids...the days are just running together now. Ugh..I miss him...

So glad the barbecue is going so well! The food sounds amazing:) And I was with the other girls about the waffles, but figured they were something other than a breakfast food:) The language barrier is awesome! I love it!

The barbeque sounds awesome. Wish we had some warm weather over here. I can't wait for summer. I'm planning on learning how to surf and kite board. Man, there is so much I want to do with my life.

okay, i can't read anymore... August Bank Holiday?? Is that to celebrate all of the great Bank Robbers of the Past?!

How fun would that be to have a day to celbrate that! I see costumes and everything. :)~

cellbrate... yep that is what i wrote but the true meaning of that, well if EVOO is now in the American Dictionary, then by gosh, so is cellbrate!

HA!

Teresa - I have not seen breakfast waffles, though I am sure the are here somewhere. Just keep going for a little longer - Chuck will be back soon! I bet he is missing you all just as much!

Kenady - I saw another language barrier thing this morning - Terri was talking about cooking Brats. To us Brats are naughty children!

Sid - From what I know you are in a great place for surfing - get to it, we want to hear about your progress!

Jahooni - We have a few Bank Holidays scattered through the year - holidays where the banks are closed. Most other places used to close but not so much now, mainly some of the supermarkets which causes all sorts of panic for some reason! Cellbrate? A great word relating to criminals and holidays!

the story about the woman is funny... she sounds like a bit of an idiot!

that bbq sauce sounds good. i love jamaican bbq sauce. there's one that we can get here, but it's been out of stock forever. the bad thing about that is it takes months (like 6 or more) to get things from the states, and i've been waiting for a good while to get some green enchilada sauce. i wonder if it'll ever come.

the homemade bread rolls sound good. i love homemade bread. i used to make it a lot but haven't in a long time.

glad your son is having such a good time w/ his friend. friendships from childhood can last a lifetime and that's a really good thing.
