...is an amazing thing.
Number One Son is now over 300 miles away, but last night we had a great chat via Skype.
After that, he hooked up with our younger son and his best friend for an online computer game.
300 miles? So what? They can still shoot things together just the same as they did when they shared a bedroom!

They have the Internet on computers now...
Wigsf - yes, isn't it wonderful?!
Our oldest is about 8 miles away. Maybe if he was further, he'd skype his mom once in a while!? Or maybe I should take up online computer games.
Glad he's all settled. I know it's a bittersweet time for you and the Mrs. Thank goodness for the internet!
My kid was 180 miles away in Austin and our communication was spotty Momma had to resort to cyberstalking (via Facebook) to keep up with his exploits. We also subscribed to the weekly campus police blotter report to keep up with all the shenanigans on campus. Technology advances are amazing for us old people.
Sometimes I think internet is TOO amazing. I hear my kids talking to friends from all over the country, but they rarely socialize in person. I haven't determined if it's a good thing that they stay home and out of trouble, or not....
but so happy for Mrs. RC that she can talk with him. I'm sure it eases her heartache somewhat.
Kacey and I text message a lot. I love that we have this technology. I remember when my older sister went away to college. She was only just over an hour away. But if she wanted to call, she had to use the public telephone in her dorm. It seemed like she was a million miles away. You're right. The internet makes it much easier to let your kids put some distance between themselves and home.
My dad is currently traveling in Uzbekistan and has better cell phone signal (and has been e-mailing me) than he does at home in Silicon Valley. Go figure.
