It's Cold Outside...

The weather is desperately trying to remind us that it really IS winter.

We have steadily falling ice crystals outside - I could get all dramatic and call it an ICE STORM, but people who have suffered the real thing might get upset with me and I don't want that.  It is settling on the odd roof, but not on the ground and certainly not causing power pylons to collapse...

But I am fine - I have got my thermals on and am munching my way through a nice warm Cornish Pastie - perfect.

Nub was out when I left for work this morning - he is becoming much more active each day and increasingly aware of his surroundings.  It is reassuring that he hides when anyone gets too close - I think he is safe from the cats now, both because of this and also because they seem to have lost interest in our garden at least for the time being.  Frou Frou is also doing a great job, wanting to "check the perimeter" every 10 minutes or so in the evening.  Custard is less enthusiastic and is happy to let Frou do the routine unless a noise sparks his interest.

Studying continues.  I have started reading for my next essay and it is looking like being good fun - all about landslides and how climate change may affect their frequency and severity.  Think it might get a bit grim sooner or later, though...

OK, time to head off and get a breath of very fresh air!

Have a great day.

Funny that Frou Frou is the guard dog and Custard wants to sit back more. However it is being looked after, I hope Nub is safe.

Landslides are a huge concern and with climate changes the landslides may be more catastrophic. You get to research some interesting topics.

I've experienced a small number of ice storms. They're one of the reasons we no longer live in New York.

I'm glad you have thermals and a cornish pastie, which by the way I have no idea of what that is. It sounds pornographic, but I'm thinking no, considering the context. I know if I ever go to the UK, I will need to learn the proper way to speak and local phraseology!

I appreciate the Nub updates.

It was sleeting when I picked Sam up from college - brrrr - time to batten down the hatches. I have this cave mentality throughout winter, I swear I'm coming back as a bear in my next life.

That's hardly a bit of light reading you have ahead of you - how far into your course are you now? Must be cool for your son to see you as a kindred soul, him being a full time Uni student as he is!

CiCi - Custard and Frou seem to be developing a sort of Lion-Lioness relationship. She does the hard work...

Abby - No, a Cornish pastie is not pornographic :-) It is a sort of pie with chopped meat and vegetables inside.

Shrinky - I finish this summer! Yay! Started back in 2003, took time out when life turned to shit and then got back to it again.

Glad to hear the ice isn't sticking to the ground. I hate to imagine you trying to cycle through that stuff!

Nub's got a good sense of self-preservation. AND a good guard dog!

I love the cold. But i might not wish for snow here. My ferrets are squirming in the heat, poor boys and girl.
The rabbit hutch is outside right? How do they fare in the cold?

Hope you are keeping warm, my friend. Biking on icy roads can be detrimental to your health.

I like how Custard is sticking Frou Frou with a roving post. A sign of an old veteran soldier when he gets the rookie to pull guard duty.

It is frighteningly cold here! UGH... this morning it was -15.5 degrees C. I think that is the equivalent of 9 degrees F. I am wearing 2 sweaters and 2 pairs of socks just so I don't freeze too death!!
