I am winning!!!!!

I have nearly finished the project that has been sucking up my time!

You want to know more about it?

Ok, a brief run down.

I have been using GIS (computerised maps) to work out all possible modes of transport (walk, cycle, bus, train, car) available to all of our students who go to one of our 5 sites.  Using these forms of transport and the distances involved we can calculate the carbon footprint for various scenarios, from the worst (everyone drives in their own car) to the best (everyone uses the greenest form of transport available to them).

Quite a task, I must say, but very useful to the University.

Right, just a few bits in Excel (some of you will know that I love using Excel - sad I know) and all is done...

Update - ALL DONE!  Yay me!

That is a very cool study! No wonder you love your work!

Terri - Have you any idea how nerdy that makes you sound? :-)

Haha... Congrats!

Oh, but see... I'm not actually a nerd because I despise Excel.

See? Not a nerd :-)

Karie - Thanks!

Terri - OK. But to have formed an opinion that strong you must have used it a LOT! Or maybe you know of something much better, some obscure program that only real hard-core nerds know about? :-)

Hey. Quit dissin Excel. It's just a tool. I've worked with a lot worse programs.

Kudos on the project. Always a good feeling to reach the end. Is it Miller time?

So, how big is my carbon footprint if I take my helicopter in?

Agg79 - It is Miller time tonight! Um, your footprint would be huge, but if you had a gunship no one would argue with you!

I hate Excel and spreadsheets in general. It's one of the reasons I decided to move out of office life and into the lowly paid world of 'care'.

Anyway, your students are lucky to have someone willing to do all this to help them.
