Eating lunch, waiting for DVDs to burn. Baguette, cheese, ham, tomatoes, chili sauce, mayo. Nice.
Number One Son had to have a new calculator for his new school. Not just any old calculator, needed a graphing calculator that cost a silly amount. He came home last night and told us that he had lost it. Mrs RC was not impressed. I had half expected something like that. The good news is that he found it when he went to school today. Might superglue it to his arm or something...
I think that confidence in our new government is on the slide. Yesterday they announced that any person earning more than £44,000 would stop receiving Child Benefit (a small weekly payment for each child in a household). Someone immediately pointed out that a household with 2 people each earning $43,000 would still get it. Clearly they hadn't thought about this! Makes you proud to be British :-(
Going to try to get off to the library now - who ever thought that a 1-day loan was a good idea?
And finally - Norman Wisdom died today. He was a really funny guy, and by all reports also a really NICE guy! Here is a classic clip:

Your sandwich sounds great but I have never used chili sauce in one. Maybe I will try that.
The video is great. Sorry to hear about Norman Wisdom but he left lots of great things for us to watch and enjoy.
Technobabe - glad you like it - he did indeed leave lots of good stuff.
So sad about Norman, he lived the past thirty years on our island, and was a regular face around town, up until the past four years when his health started to fail. At least he lived a good long life, eh?
I know exactly how you feel about our precious darlings losing/breaking their costly must-have's. Drives me demented! At least he found it again (until next time)..
Home made pizza for us tonight. Eldest daughter went missing up until 5mins ago (her phone switched off). Swears she "TOLD" me she had a hockey match. Glad she turfed up before I called the police, serves her right her pizza is crunchy (grrrrrrrrr)..
What good are governments? They're the same everywhere... making up stupid policies and causing delays and headaches for everyone.
My kids had to have those graphing calculators too, and they all needed them at times so that it was impossible to give any one of the kids a "hand me down." I'm amazed that none of mine ever lost theirs. I have one kid who is known for losing EVERYTHING but somehow he managed to hang on to that calculator!
Shrinky - I heard that he was in your area - must have been great to see him around. We used to see Peter Cushing on a fairly regular basis. Another really nice guy.
Terri - So true. Over here, having 2 year gaps seems to work well for hand me down stuff like this, so assuming this one remains un-lost it will be useful to the younger ones...
Kids don't seem to hang on to those calculators. It's almost like they are disposable.
And goverment stupidity is not unique to your side of the pond. There's lots of dumb/expensive decisions being made on our behalf to improve our lives.
Agg79 - Oh, I know we don't have the monopoly on dumb government, rushing through stuff that hasn't really been thought out properly, etc, but I thought this one did stand above most gaffs that are made for our benefit.
