My last post mentioning cricket made me think - I am not a typical Englishman, am I?
I don't like cricket!
I don't drink tea!
I don't wear a suit with a bowler hat and an umbrella!
I don't do Morris Dancing!
I am not a beer-swilling soccer hooligan!
I don't watch Eastenders!
I think of the Krays as psychotic killers and not "lovable rogues"!
I am not proud of the British Empire and what it achieved/did to the places it owned. Think Hitler invented the concentration camp? Think again...
No, I don't feel very English at all.
There is only one thing that makes me feel a bit English.
The English are supposed to be eccentric.
I do believe I am eccentric. Unless I am just mad, of course - that has always been a possibility!
But assuming I'm not mad, maybe I am just a little bit English?

Pretty English to me. Have you heard yourself speak?
Wreggie - Oh I just put that voice on!
do you drive on the left side of the street?
Look into your identification card and find out if you are indeed a citizen of the once great British Empire :)
Being a citizen of a country does not mean you have to follow the crowd.
Hey, maybe you are an BETTER and UPGRADED Englishman of the new century!!! You are Legendary after all :)
Come on over...and be a Yank!
wigsf - Well I try to ride my bike on that side, so I guess that is a big sign...
Shadowthorne - Englishman-2000 or something? Sounds like an interesting concept!
Sparky - But I would have to learn to ride my bike on the wrong side of the road!
I just noticed something. You called it soccer. You aren't English. You're American (or Canadian)!
wigsf - Since I started blogging I have developed a subconscious translation reflex for the benefit of my American and Canadian friends - sometimes I miss one, but I try my best! Maybe I am an American or Canadian wannabe!
Eccentric? Maybe. I just think you're cool! But Wreggie is right. Based on the accent, you're definitely English.
Terri - Hm, should I now become The Cool Rock Chef?
Or The English Rock Chef?
Eccentric? You? The thought never crossed my mind.
You make it sound like eccentric is a bad thing. Some of the greatest minds have been considered a bit "eccentric".
Adn Wreggie & Terri are right - your accent peggs you as English (at least in my opinion).
