What planet are these people from?

I woke up to the radio, as usual. One of the news stories was about child poverty. The government has promised to end child poverty in the UK, but is having mixed success.

OK, I understand this - I see the effect of child poverty every day! I see kids walking to school in worn out shoes and dirty clothes with that sad "hungry" look about them, while somehow the parents manage to run 2 cars, drink and smoke...

But then this guy comes on and starts talking about how things are now getting much worse because of the recession. His evidence? Well it seems that this year some children won't be getting to fly away for their summer holiday this year, while others are even having their pocket money reduced!

Golly jeepers, this is terrible! Let's beg the UN for help shall we? Not having 2 weeks in Spain is a real sign of child poverty! My kids have never been there, so they must be the most deprived kids in the world!

I sometimes wonder just how much people actually know about the real world!

Isn't that sad? What some people consider hard times?
Pathetic.

I read that because of all the processed "food" that kids are eating, doctors are actually finding children that, although fat or even obese are suffering from malnutrition and have scurvey and rickets.
In this day and age!

John you have never taken your kids to Spain? You bad, bad parent...

Yeah, they've got it pretty rough.

It's like the CEO's in New York City complaining that the city doesn't give them a good selection of $20 million dollar condos.

P.S. I wonder how that little 13 year old boy will support his new baby. There are some tough times ahead...

Oh my gosh. My family is living below the poverty line. My children haven't had the basic necessity of international travel.

Zig - Short and sweet!

Ali - Yep.

James - I have heard that too - the return of rickets, who would have thought! And Yes, I am a terrible parent.

Chris - Those poor CEOs! I don't think the 13 year old will be that hard up - my taxes will be looking after them all, probably sending them on holidays to Spain too!

Terri - Them and the majority of Americans, as I understand it! Wonder if it's too late to add another item to the bailout bill to give everyone a holiday overseas?

Add to the "Bail Out Bill" hahahahahahaha! *snort*!
You mean that piece of legislation that is supposed to help the American economy, but as I read it, I will not see any help from it, with the exception of MAYBE getting an extra $17 per paycheck starting in June.
--Maybe if I save that $17 I will be able to send my "poor" grandkids on "Holiday" to a cool forgein country! LOL

Michele - $17! No, you mustn't save it - it is your patriotic duty to spend spend spend! :-)
