The North Wind doth blow...

and we shall have snow!

And so we did on Sunday morning!

I woke up, looked out of the window and saw snow fluttering down, covering everything with a fine layer of crisp whiteness. So I snuggled back into bed and dozed for a while. While I dozed, my wife took Custard the dog for his walk, which they both thoroughly enjoyed.

I slid out of bed and made sure the kids had looked out to see the snow. It was falling thick and fast by now and looked like it was in for the day. But, no, it turned to rain by around 10am, and poured for most of the day. The snow went before I could get a good photo! Sorry about that :-(

So we stayed in the warm. I switched on the slow cooker and got stew and dumplings going for later. Mmmm, you can't beat it on a day like that. Then I spent most of the day watching movies and crocheting a blanket, nibbling on some wonderful Brownies that my wife had made on Saturday evening.

What movies?

Well The Empire Strikes Back was on TV, so I watched that.

Then we watched Robot Chicken Star Wars, which was so funny I had tears rolling down my cheeks and got that stomach pain that you sometimes get. I can't remember the last time I laughed like that.

Finally we watched an old classic, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I love this movie, in my mind certainly Steve Martin's best performance ever.

In between tall this I had a guitar interlude and came up with a tune that sounded really good - I must get back into the Rock Shed and record it before I forget it! Assuming I can still remember it now!

This week will see me finally getting a move on with the Christmas presents - lots of bargains out there right now!

i keep trying to get a jump start on Christmas presents, but little emergencies keep popping up... like a flat tire on the car, Bailey having an ear infection, kids being sick... maybe i'll be able to start after Thanksgiving.

i miss snow:) glad you got to see a bit of it before it was gone:)

Kenady - well I did get a good present for the boys, and it was a real bargain. I guess you don't get snow where you are now, just tropical storms. Maybe you could organise a holiday house swap with one of our northern friends who wants to escape the snow for a while!

Loved the cozy sound of what you wrote - I've been sleeping under the handmade quilt that my Aunt Alice made me and that feels really cozy on a cold morning.

Robot Chicken Star Wars? I've never heard of it, but from the description of your reaction, it sounds like a must see!

I love weekends like you've described, when you can just cozy up inside and enjoy time with the family and some good comfort food. Mmmmm!

{{sighs}}snow...I do miss snow and it sounds like you had the perfect cozy day. I would not do well with a dog, I'd have to find a way to let the dog walk themself when it was ugly outside...goodness knows I don't care for inclement weather!

Stew and dumplings - easily one of my favourite things about winter! Gaah...I want some now :)

You're making a blanket!?!?! Geez. I'm feeling pretty inadequate in the homemade stuff department these days ;)

Hey dude! i've been away for a while, but I'm back now! AAACK, I feel like I haven't been to your blog for ever! Anyway, tonight I'm gonna catch up!

Claire - I have never done a quilt, but who knows what the winter will bring? The blanket I am making is now the size that I use it to keep my legs warm as I work on it...

Terri - It is a series of short sketches, including George W dreaming he is a Jedi...

Kiki - If you had a dog like Custard there would be no skipping walks - I am sure he can tell the time and starts bouncing around the house when it is time to go out!

Ali - Have a go at crochet. There must be web sites telling you how to do it. All you need is a ball of wool and a nice big hook!

Zig - Good to see you survived the classes!

hubby loves dirty rotten scoundrels (sp?)... i'm not to found of it. :)

i miss the snow. it's still hot here, if you can believe it. during the day, it's been miserable.. i've even been running the a/c today!!

stew and dumplings?? my mom always made chicken and dumplings... what's stew and dumplings?

Um Naief - Stew basically the same as a casserole - chunks of meat and vegetables in sauce/gravy, cooked slowly for hours and hours. Mmmmm. You're running the AC? I hate you ;-)

it actually rained today! steady until late noon... so it's cooled off a bit.. but it'll probably be hot again in a few days, if not tomorrow.
