If I ruled the world...

There would be a law that allowed certain elements of society to be culled!

OK, so I sound like a Nazi today.

I am just getting sick of scam artists, that is all.

Today my wife got a text that said it was from a solicitor to a Mr Whatever (not us) saying that things were moving forward and that their house was due to be reposessed.

Of course, my wife wanted to do the right thing and tried to ring them to tell them that the message had come to the wrong person - the intended person needs to know ASAP, clearly! So she rings up and it starts asking for various code numbers that were included in the text. She rings off and rings me asking for advice.

I look on the web and find that the number given is a premium rate number that will charge a stupid amount for any call made to it! It is a scam! These people are trying to exploit our good nature! Am I the only one that gets mad at the thought of that? It is one thing to be a cheating crook who would sell his own mother for the price of a drink, but thinking up a scam that relies on exploiting the good nature of the few nice people that are left in the world is just beyond me!

So! If I ruled The World...

Oh John your post(on my blog) has came up as "Scheduled" what does that mean? Will it come up on it's own? Also a new box has appeared with your name. Am I supposed to press "grant admin privilidges"?

James - I scheduled it so that it wouldn't appear straight away - when do you want me to post it? And no, don't give me admin privilages - you don't want me annexing your blog, do you?

If you ruled the world...Hmmmm...

Rock music would be playing in every single store. I kinda like that!!

That would be a good meme...readers have to fill in the blank of what the world would be like if that blog writer ruled the world! LOL!!

I definitely agree with you on that rule.

Scam artists are everywhere. I just don't trust what anyone tells me anymore. And you're right - there are only a few nice people left in this world. That's why I prefer animals.

Its so sad that we have to continually be on our guard in this world...I'd rather people just operated on the premise of "Do unto others..." it would be a much lovelier world.

If you ruled the world it would be a much more pleasant place...I'd vote for you!!!

Somehow it doesn't surprise me that someone has figured out a way to make money from a phone scam. How very sad.

Teresa - You are right! An "If I Ruled The World" meme would be great! Rock Appreciation classes, like in School of Rock, would be compulsory!

Marie - Cool - you can be one of my ministers! Animals are good, you know where you are, even if it wants to eat you it will do it honestly!

Kiki - Do unto others is a great starting point isn't it? OK, I have got one minister and one voter - a long way to go, I think!

Terri - Oh there are a lot of phone scams, like the one that starts off "Hi, I'm Mandy from Las Vegas and you have won a prize..." all the time charging YOU for listening!

Sitting in Silence - You are right, sadly. That last line must sound great with an Aussie accent!

thank goodness we don't get that here, altho i still get tons of it in my email acct. it's nice not having those calls...

one funny things about calls though... sometimes you can say, 'hold the line or i'll call you right back'... hehehe and then hang up. not that it'll keep 'em from calling again.. but soon enough they'll get sick of it.

in the states, you can call and report these ppl and have your number taken off, of if you tell them to remove your number, they're supposed to do that... not that it works...

i hate this stuff too.
