Emotionally scarring your children

Last night, after dinner, I was in the livingroom playing one of my guitars - the V-bass that I have done a lot of work on recently. Everyone else was in the room too, watching TV, doing homework, etc.

The boy who is living with us at the moment looked at me.

"Is that your favourite guitar?"

I paused.

"Hard to say. Each one is good at some things and not so good at other things."

My eldest son then chipped in.

"It's like trying to choose a favourite child, isn't it?"

My reply was instant.

" Nah, that's EASY!"

The looks on their faces was priceless! Will they spend the rest of their lives wondering if I do have a favourite and if so which it is? No, I don't think so, not really.

LOL! You're terrible! I do, however, get the impression that your kids DO know better than that. That was a great analogy your son came up with!

Hilarious...but that's mean! LOL!! I'm with Terri...something tells me that your kids get your sense of humor and they'll be just fine! :)

If that's what constitutes emotionally scarring your children then I think mine is in trouble...uh.

But that was great, lol! Sounds like something my dad would have said for sure :)

Terri - I know it was bad, but they do know my sense of humour!

Teresa - Thank, you are right of course.

Ali - Hm, so what do you say to little E in the small hours...

LOL - I don't say anything to her NOW, but I'll definitely tease her when she's a bit older :)

You ARE terrible, but it was too good to pass up!! My husband would have probably said that his guitars were his favorite! ;)

This was great! Made me laugh and wish that sometimes I had children. . .

Ali - That's not so bad then!

Um Naief - That would have been a good one! I must remember that!

Jen - You want children so that you can be horrible to them?

Kenady - Thanks?

Reminds me of the story of the elderly mom who was on her deathbed, each of her children went in to say their good byes and she would tell each of them, "You were my favorite, you know..."
