in a rushing, rising river.
And the river crept out of its bed
and it crept right into Piglet's!
I woke up this morning to the sound of torrential rain drumming on my window. Ergh, not my favourite way of starting the day.
Breakfast was Banofee Porridge (yum) which made me feel a bit better about the impending journey.
Then I set off on my bike - it was still pouring with rain with a nice head-wind, just to make it really good. The roads were totally awash, with water gushing off the fields on either side, turning the roads into small rivers. The spray from passing cars was incredible - I am sure I did my bit to increase the average happiness of the drivers as they hammered past sending huge arcs of water over me.
Just how wet can someone get? By the time I arrived at work I was totally soaked, my water proof coat having given up long ago. Still it is supposed to stop at the skin, isn't it? I am not so sure now, I felt distinctly sponge-like as I got changed into my work clothes.
There was one positive side to this, though. My hair feels WONDERFUL and I can feel myself flicking it from side to side like someone in a shampoo ad on TV.
Wonder if I can fit in the phrase "I'm worth it" at some point today?

Ooh, you should do a video blog of the hair tossing and the "I'm worth it line" - that would be a wonderful way to end the work week.
I need a good laugh! :)
Ah, sorry I can't do that! Hope you find something to break the gloom today.
I absolutely love, love, love the rain. . . but not cycling in it. Ew. That is just plain misery.
I hope your weekend is warm(er) and dry(er). Or at least once it is when you get home from cussing out Hal.
It was an unseasonably warm (and wet) ride into work today, too. Thankfully, most of the rain had fallen overnight.
poor thing. I would have slowed down a tiny bit if I saw you on the side of the street. I would have chosen the smaller of the puddles to splash you with! LOL
That would be a funny video blog. I agree with Ali on that!
I can just imagine you shaking your head from side to side...wet hair peices hitting and sticking to your cheeks and you singing "I'm worth it!"...LOL...that was just as good as a video blog! LOL!!
BUT YOU ARE NOT OFF THE HOOK THOUGH! HA! I STILL WANT A VIDEO BLOG... :0)
You have such a fabulous attitude about this! I would never even get on a bike in the rain, much less take time to notice what good came from such a drenching. I need to take some cues from you on positive thinking!
I'm with Terri, I would have called a cab, or a friend for a ride. I can be a bit of a priss when it comes to that kind of thing. Plus if it was cold to boot! I admire your fortitude!!!
*chanting* video blog, video blog!
Lol, your so funny. It's good to see that you have a good sense of humor.
My sister & I abt 13 yrs ago, were crossing the street to go to church . It had been raining for a couple of days. In Tulsa, when it rains it pours. So as we were getting ready to cross the street, this huge car is flying by instead of slowing down & yes there was a huge puddle on the street, the size of lake Erie (j/k) & whosh, it was like a Tidal wave hit us. We never did cross the street or went to churcu, we just turned around & went back home to change & take another shower.:) If I remember correctly, we both were shocked, looked at each other & laughed.
Btw- good for you on standing up to the boss about your couchers. I hate it when people scam like that.
you know, you're the first person i've heard to say the same thing i think about rain water and hair!! i love to wash my hair in the stuff and you're right, it does give you that sensational feeling of being able to feel your hair move!
can't imagine riding to work in that. how far do you go? you have a courage and will that i don't have. but... hey, then again, maybe i would if i had to.
My cycle ride is around 8.5 miles each way. The only weather that stops me is snow that has turned to ice, but that stops the whole country moving anyway so I get the day off.
