The Scottish Army...

The cavalry - Norman mercenaries at the front, Scots of varying quality behind.

The Nobles, with their ponies behind and some skirmishers in front to soak up the arrows...

The main mass of spearmen.  FREEEDOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!

The Viking allies...

The Irish rabble...

Finally done!  A really mottley bunch that does not really hold up much promise of success, but I think it looks good and will be great fun to play.

Who is next?

Well I have a box full of Persians (think The 300 Spartans) that has been giving me bad looks for some time now...

They look great, especially from these aerial shots! Now, I think I will try to use "rabble" throughout the day.

Abby - Rabble is a good word. Use it wisely!

Crikey, that's a lot of manpower. Or should I say modelpower.
And you better be careful what you say.... I have a lot of Scottish friends and they don't take kindly to being referred to as "varying quality"!
Nice painting.

Love your motley bunch, even if you don't expect they'll bring you much success.
Had to laugh at the "varying quality" remark. :)

Shammickite - I have a good friend (also a wargamer) from Glasgow. A really nice guy but he always sounds like he is about to thump you in the mouth. I try to match his anti-English comments with anti-Scot ones :-)

SnadowRun300 - Scottish horse troops were generally inferior to the English troops all through history, from the Normans through to the Civil war and the Jacobite Rebellions. When they became British they were able to provide amazing units such as the Scots Greys - it was just a matter of training and having access to really good horses.

You could use your band's music for theme music...

I think it says something that you're less concerned with whether or not they stand a chance of winning than you are with how they look. Just goes to show how much you enjoy the process of painting them.

Would love to see how your mottey crew of Scotts would fare against the King's army. An epic battle, I imagine.
