The Weekend

Was very busy.

We had already committed to having an evening out on Saturday.  We were going to see a band that features a guy who was in one of the bands I was in as a teenager, and we were really looking forward to it.

Of course, life was eager to throw a huge spanner in the works whenever we decide to do something for ourselves...

On Friday morning, my mum was on her way to feed Hunphrey...

...when the front wheel of her bike got caught in a pot hole.  She was thrown into the road, breaking a piece of bone off her elbow.  Despite her best efforts to avoid treatment (what would you expect from an old nurse?) she ended up in hospital while they fixed her up.  She will be there for a couple more days yet, so as usual, we and one of her neighbours have stepped up to the plate to look after her animals while she is away.  So I am up early to feed Humphrey and Orbrey the wild cat that lives with him, while our daughter is walking Spot in the afternoons.

However, this did not stop us going to see the band on Saturday!

The gig was in a blues bar at the far eastern tip of Kent.  This is the view across the bay...

The coast on the far side of the bay stretches down to Dover, with its famous White Cliffs and castle.

The gig was very good, although my guitarist friend is unwell and was struggling at times.  We had to leave early to catch the train home, which we missed by 2 minutes, leaving us sitting at the station for an hour waiting for the next one.  Back in our home town, I was gagging for a kebab, so we grabbed some, went home and ate them in bed while watching yet another episode of Dexter.
Yeah, must do that again soon!  Well, maybe skipping out the missed train...

I won't talk about how much I regretted the late night when I had to get up to deal with Humphrey on Sunday morning....

Ouch! Hope she heals up soon. Not wanting to go to the hospital when she chipped a bone? Really? She must have an amazing pain tolerance.

Goodness! I know how much my shoulder hurt after my fall, and hers was a MUCH worse injury. Please let her know I'm wishing her a speedy recovery!
What a gorgeous view! Glad you had a great time. Sounds like it was well worth being a bit tired the next day!

So sorry to hear about your mom's injury. Hope she heals up soon.

Seeing a friend's band sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday night. (I've done the same many times and always have a blast.)

Kebabs in bed... now that's one I've never heard. I tend to fall asleep in bed while watching t.v., so it's probably best I don't eat there.

Riot Kitty - Well she already has serious arthritis in both legs, so is on some serious medication for those...

Meleah Rebeccah - She is back home now but is actually doing as she is told, so we are hoping that she will be back to normal soon.

ShadowRun300 - Well she was already on drugs for her bad knees, so I think that soaked up the pain. Yes, it was definitely worth it being tired the next day.

Terri - Falling asleep half way through eating a kebab - I guess that would not a pretty sight in the morning!

Sorry about your mom! That sounds scary. I'm glad the animals have people looking after them.

That's quite a specific craving - kebabs. I think I'm having one now.

Humphrey is extremely handsome, no wonder your mum loves him. I would offer to feed him, but I'm too far away. And missed the train by 2 minutes... damn and blast. And you could have stayed at the concert for another hour....
Kebabs not a chicken tandoori, the British national dish?

Abby - Yes, the animals have to be looked after - if not my mum would be heading up there on her hands and knees...

Shammickite - No, I like Indian but prefer a kebab after a few beers - it is very popular now, as you can eat it while staggering down the street singing. Not that we did that, of course!
