A Short Breather...

OK, I think I have things more or less under control now - just have to do a proof test on what I have just written and I am there.

This has been a week of real highs and lows...

The lowest low was hearing the news that a guy that I had played in bands with as a teenager lost his fight against a brain tumour.  He was a great guy and an amazingly skilled guitarist.  Ironically it was probably his musical talent that killed him, as the tumour that he had is associated with musicians, something that he saw the funny side of!  He is going to be missed by many.

Then we can turn to the high, with one of my brothers becoming a grandfather...

In between this, I have been working mega hard at work, which was a shock as at this time of year I am used to slowing down - ah well...

We are also starting to get into gear for the Honeymoon - we will be there in 3 weeks time! I bought our Euros yesterday and we are now thinking about starting to make lists of what we need to take.  Can't wait.

My mum continues to do well - the plaster is off her arm but she is still under orders to take things easy, with people doing her shopping and chauffeuring her around.  My pony poop duties continue, probably indefinitely to be honest - it is a chore that she can do without these days.

Hope you good - I have tried to visit blogs in between things this week...

So sorry to hear about your band mate. But congrats on becoming a soon-to-be great uncle! That's exciting!
These next three weeks are going to fly by! (I hope.) You'll be in Malta in no time. I've always found the anticipation of going on vacation can be just as fun as the trip itself!

I'm so sorry about your friend. How is this tumor associated with musicians?

There will always be poop, but those of us who are lucky have friends to help ;)

Anticipating a trip is all part and parcel of the trip itself.... making lists, charging batteries, washing all the clothes , buying a new sunhat, stocking up on sunscreen..... oh I'm really getting into the spirit of this!
Sorry to hear the news of your musician friend. It seems that I've heard of quite a few similar events just recently. One of the hazards of getting older I suppose. Bummer. As they say.

ShadowRun300 - Yes, Mrs RC is getting into "organisation" mode...

Abby and Riot Kitty - Yes, it is one of those medical mysteries - apparently about 95% of people who get that particular tumour are talented musicians.

Shammickite - Yes, I am starting to feel that I am hearing more bad stuff about friends than good stuff too...

Sorry about your friend! I'm glad your mom's doing better though and I can't wait to hear about the honeymoon! Good luck and try to have fun!

News about your friend is always hard to take. Especially tragic circumstances. Never knew there was a tumor related to musicians. Kinda makes me glad I was never musically inclined.

A honeymoon? Now that sounds like fun. I know you two will have a great time together!

So sorry for the loss of your friend. I always admire those who can travel that road with a sense of humor. He sounds like a great guy.

Congrats to your brother on becoming a grandfather! How fun! I'll bet he's so proud.

Your honeymoon is going to be a much deserved break after weeks like the one you're having!

Sorry to hear the news about your friend. It is hard to lose a good friend and talented musician so young.

Good that your mum is on the mend, but I agree that poop duty is probably your new permanent job.

I bet you guys are getting anxious about the upcoming trip. Have you started packing yet?
