The cyclist's idyll - almost

I headed home last night and found the stretch of road that is closed for repairs.

Of course, "closed" does not apply to me!

But they have gotten sneaky over the years - clearly someone is determined to stop pesky cyclists taking advantage of the road closure!

They really did not want ANYONE to get through!

They even dug a trench right across the road!

But I have long legs, and was able to cross without difficulty.

Wonder if they will try harder tonight!

Extra bit for Shadowrun300

This is what the beach is like where I live.

Just a mass of loose stones. It moves as you run so half of the energy you put into running on it gets absorbed used to move stones instead of you! A real workout for the calves! My running on this has been limited to time such as having to catch up with dogs and children or catching ice cream vans before they move on. Oh and when I was a kid we used to play when the sea was rough - running along the shoreline as the waves pulled back and then running up the beach to avoid being hit by the next wave...

Shiny! Nice to have your very own road to commute on. Maybe that construction crew is as slow as the ones we have over here and you'll have this road to yourself for a week or two.

Agg79 - they are supposed to finish on Friday, but I can't see them repairing that whacking hole that soon. Hoping they are a bunch of slackers! :-)

Glad to see you're not letting those pesky blockades stand in your way of cruisin' on an open road.
Thank you for the pictures of the beach! I can see how that would be difficult to run on! Do you feel like you're just running in place? Seems impossible to actually propel yourself forward! :)

ShadowRun300 - It generally feels like slow motion - unless the sea has been rough and created steep ridges - then you sometimes go backwards!

Rock Chef! You're driving on the wrong side of the road!! And that does look like a challenging run, especially in crocs. What kind of helmet cam do you have?

Abby - In Britain we drive on the correct side of the road - it is the rest of the world that has it wrong! :-)

Not a helmet cam - I was riding one handed and holding the camera in my other hand. I hope to get a helmet cam in the summer, though.

I was wondering if you got one of those fancy helmet cams like Abby's. Love the beach even if it is a bit rocky.

Agg79 - The beach has its appeal (such as the search for interesting stones or finding flat stones for skimming on the sea) but it is not good for sunbathing :-(

Your blog title has changed again! How long have I been oblivious to that? :-)

Watching the video, I was impressed that you could record and ride at the same time. (And speak!) And then I thought, "Sure looks like he's riding on the wrong side of the road." And then I remembered where you live!
