Friday!

So, the election is over. Looks like the Conservatives have the most seats but not a majority. This means that anything that the new government tries to do will have to be discussed, argued and amended as it goes rather than the ruling party just being able to force through whatever it wants. This is probably the best we could hope for, IMO. But we will see in time.

Tomorrow is the day I meet my Canadian friend at Hastings to refight the battle with toy soldiers. Look out for lots of photos some time next week!

I have got exams on Monday and Tuesday - I hate it, nothing seems to be sticking in my head. I am intending to take a book or 2 with me tomorrow so I can put the 6 hours of travelling to good use...

General note - if I turn into a real asshole when I am old I hope someone shoots me or something...

Back to reading I guess!

Have a great weekend!

It is hard enough to understand the election results here and I have trouble understanding it over there. I hope your politicians don't spend their term fighting and holding back on what the other party is trying to do like it is here.

I'd like to say that I hope this is the beginning of a new era for you, but... these are politicians we are talking about, so I don't have high hopes for much positive change.

I'm looking forward to pictures of the battle! Have fun!

I'm sure you will do just great on your exams. You're a smart guy and your brain will come through for you when it matters most.

(See? Your NICE friends are still here. Just late to the party!)

It's funny, I've always cast a vote (never had the party I vote for elected in, mind!), but I no longer have a UK vote, which feels weird, I mean the Isle of Man is still part of the UK - but as we have our own government here I s'pose it's fair enough. I kind of prefer the system we have over here anyway, the politicians all have to list their home and mobile numbers in the phone book (grin)!

Hope you beat your friend to a pulp in that game.

And good luck with school!!

No coalition posturing, eh? Sounds like it's gonna be complicated!

The more time government spends talking and not "doing" is usually better. When they ALL agree on something, it usually is about spending...

Can't wait to see the battle photos - happy to see that we're not the only place with wonky elections!!!

Technobabe - Well I am hoping that they will have a moderating effect on the more extreme ideas that are going around...

Terri - Yay, I knew I could rely on you fora nice comment!

Shrinky - I have always been confused about the status of Man. Your politicians sound more accessible than our local government!

Shadowthorne - Hm, lost terribly...

Moody Minstrel - I am not sure if they have reached an agreement yet - talk is about making longterm alliances rather than something that will fall apart in 6 months.

Sparky - The one thing they tend to agree on is their own pay rise...

Claire - I will post photos soon!
