AAAaaaarrrrrrrggggggghhhh!!!!!!!!

This morning I was merrily cylcing along the road through the woods when suddenly I found myself being chased by a deerhound.
Yes, he was a big chap!
He chased me last week too!
Anyway, deciding that having a dog like this chasing you along a busy country road was not my idea of fun, I stopped peddling and got off the bike. The dog stopped and looked at me, cars swerving to avoid it.
Well, better get it back to its owner! I started walking back towards the dog, who retraced its path into a small clearing that is used as a car park by those who visit the woods. Another dog appeared, this time it was smaller but had a muzzle on it, evidently to stop it biting people as it proceeded to repeatedly nose-butt me in the leg and butt!
Finally the owner appeared. I told her what had happened and said that I was worried the dog would get run over and/or cause a car accident.
What did she do?
She more or less ignored me, loaded up the dogs her car (eventually, once they had finished running around barking at and nose-butting me), got into the car and drove off! To make matters worse, I actually over-took her a mile up the road and she still ignored me!
If it happens again I might lock up my bike, grab the dog and take it to the Police - a bit of a walk, but it might make the point. Talking to the damn woman is obviously not going to work!

Silly woman. What is it with people these days?

I wonder if she'll realize you tried to do her a favor when her dog gets hit by a car? How arrogant of her to just ignore you!

Wait wait wait - you overtook her?!? As in you passed her? And she was in a car and you were cycling? What? Who are you, Steve McQueen?

Okay - sorry - back to the point...she sounds like a real tool, if you had to report her to the cops that wouldn't be so bad - I'd hate to think of her having to learn a lesson by losing her dog to a vehicle...

Jahooni - Yep. I think I saw her working in Subway later in the day.

Marie - I wish I knew...

Terri - Probably not - if it got hit while chasing me she would probably make it my fault!

Ali - Hm, I guess that sounded more impressive than it really was. Things were a bit choked up at a junction and the cars had backed up. All I had to do was ride past them. I would hate to see the dog get hit too, not to mention the possibility of injury to those in the cars.

Wow I knew there were some pretty lame people but.... We all deal with them and they will never go away! LOL

I believe if I looked over my shoulder and saw an Irish Wolfhound running me down, I'd be a bit freaked, too.

I've never pepper-sprayed a dog, but...

I seem to attract those kind of people! LOL!! Umm...yah that would have freaked me out too...that was one big dog.

What I don't get is why people get pets if they don't care enough about them?

Some people just don't deserve unconditional love.

Will the police do anything?

That just pisses me off! What's the matter with people anyway?

That deerhound looks like a skinny wolf...I would have been screaming my head off and completely freaked out by something like that chasing me...good for you for trying to do the right thing, what a shame that woman was such a "pickle"!! I say report the dog to the police next time, you'll save the dog for sure and probably your breath.

Rachael - At one point I was tempted to slap her to wake her up, but that would just have landed me in a cell!

Aaron - Sadly we are not allowed pepper spray. I would not use it on the dog, but there are a lot of people...

Logzie - it was big but I did not feel threatened by it. They are big and fast but not very strong.

Jen - The Police would certainly charge her for the return of the dog if I took it to the station. Whether they would do anything to force her to control it in the future is anyone's guess.

Kenady - I think that too many people just don't step back and look at the implications of what they do.

Kiki - I have dealt with a lot of dogs in my life (my mom was involved with the local animal rescue charity when I was younger) and can judge a dog very quickly. This one would be a great dog for someone who would treat it firmly, it was just running wild, like a badly behaved child.

I hate getting chased by dogs! And when it happens to me, its usually when I'm taking a shortcut through an industrial district, and the junkyard dogs come out -not sure why they are free, but it seems they often are.

Ooh, with a junk yard dog after me I think I would be putting in an extra burst of speed too!

I usually like dogs, but that is one dog that I would boot in the snout.
