What's the story?

Things have been ticking along in the Rock Chef universe.

Let's see...

Finally had another band practice, which went really well.  I took the opportunity to suggest a few new songs, most of which went down well.  We are rolling things back to the late 60s and early 70s, as I had hoped.  Room for plenty of ad lib stuff, snappy drumming, fancy guitar work and cool bass playing.  That would be me doing the cool bass playing, of course.

There was a bit of messing around regarding the wargames tournament that I was due to take part in in September.  It  now clashes with a bigger tournament being held in the midlands, so the organisers cancelled, assuming that most of us would rather go to the big event.  After a flurries of emails, only 2 players actually wanted to go to the big show, so the London event is back on again.  Must find time to finish painting McBeth's army now - getting there slowly - the Scottish spearmen are done, the Gallwegian nutters are all ready for action, the Norman knights are chomping at the bit, the light cavalry are ready to desert my Irish army for the event.  Just need to finish painting the Vikings and then do a few cavalry and a bunch of Scottish nobles with big axes...

It will be our daughter's 18th birthday on Saturday, so I am taking tomorrow off work so we can go on a shopping expedition to one of the biggest malls in Britain.  We thought that mid week would be more peaceful than Saturday.  Mrs RC and I have never been there before.  Our daughter has been a few times with friends, so we will be following her around acting as pack mules.  Should be a good day.

Number One Son is gearing up for his exams, so has shut off his Skype link.  We can only communicate by text and email now until it is all over.  I hope he gets the results he wants, he is such a hard worker and has a great brain.

Hm, better not leave out Younger Son!  He is doing well too, going to the gym 4-5 times a week, he is now "cutting", ie dropping some weight so that you can see how much his muscles have improved.  He is looking very good, I must say, looking more like a Marine than a 15 year old school kid!  He is enjoying life a lot right now.

OK, better go!

I will try to post again soon - such a slouch...

Ugh! Seriously, I left a really long comment which disappeared into oblivion! I'll try again....

Things are very busy in your world. Sounds like you have a lot to do to get ready for the war games. Will you be able to take photos? Or would that be frowned upon since it's a tournament?

Happy Birthday to your daughter! A day at the mall sounds like great fun. I'm sure she'll have a ball and do a good job of spending some of your money.

Hope your oldest son's diligence pays off with good grades. I'm sure it will!

And good for your youngest son, really going after his fitness and health goals. Your kids all seem SO motivated! You and Mrs. RC have done a great job with them.

So, as I was saying... you have a lot to do before the tournament! Will you be able to take photos? Or will that be frowned on because it's a tournament. Would love to see all of the armies involved.

I hope number 1 son's diligence pays off in good grades. I'm sure it will. That's a big commitment, turning off some of his online connections in the name of studying!

And good for youngest son, working so hard toward his health and fitness goals. Your kids all seem so motivated. You and Mrs. RC are doing something right.

Oh sure... I recreate my comment only to have the first one appear? Sorry for all of this! This is not my day!

Ditto what Terri said. Four times.

Seriously though, you must be SO proud of your kids. And I'm happy you were able to get another practice in with the band.
(You're such a great dad to go along on a shopping trip. My hubby would have come up with every excuse in the book not to go.)

Terri - I love your determination! I hate it when a long comment gets swallowed like that - only mine have never reappeared!

ShadowRun300 - I just enjoyed seeing our daughter having so much fun. There is very little for guys in that place - a couple of clothes stores and a gadgets for guys place. And doughtnuts. Thank God for doughnuts!

Terri has got some determination there. That usually happens to me when I have written my wittiest and most funniest posts - the net just gobbles it up.

Brave man to go forth to battle at the mall, even if it is on a weekday. But still, the cause is worth the battle. Hope your daughter has a great birthday on Saturday. Good to hear your son has found a passion at the gym. My son has gotten serious as well and he has dropped some serious weight (40 lbs). Good to see that he has not taken after his father.

Agg79 - I do try to be a bad role model for my kids, gives them something to rebel against :-)
