Catching up

Well the long weekend was a busy one.

The Sunday was my mum's birthday, so we had shopping to do on the Saturday. However, we also had a sad duty to perform.

Aubrey, the wild cat that lives near to Humphrey, my mum's pony, had been hit by a car and killed.  Poor Aubrey.

We had to bury him in my mum's garden, planting a small tree on top and adding a cross that Mrs RC had made for him.  He will not be forgotten.

By the time we headed to the shops, I was more than a little muddy, but hey ho, they either want my money or they don't!

Sunday was a nice day, we had my mum at our house for most of the day, did a bit of a barbeque, had a visit from my younger brother and his family.  All good, and my mum was able to relax knowing that poor Aubrey had been sorted out.

Monday was a day of rest, but involving a lot of Dutch Blitz.  I was introduced to this card game on Lundy, bought a set and we have been playing ever since.  Mrs RC and our daughter are particularly hooked, and we play for hours most evenings at the moment.

Having finished reading Game of Thrones, I have returned to writing my zombie book, as promised.  Just finished a great scene.  Let's just say that Elvis has finally left the building...

Aw, so sorry to hear about Aubrey! But it sounds like he has a restful and fitting memorial spot. Rest In Peace.

It's always so sad to see animals be hit by cars. Especially one you've "adopted". It's kind of you to give her a proper burial. Then again, I would have expected no less from you all. Big hearts all around!
This Sunday is our Mother's Day, and wouldn't you know, I'm working. :) But I'm off Friday and Saturday, and seriously wondering if we can find Dutch Blitz around here. It looks so fun!

Abby - Yes, it is a nice spot, he will not be forgotten.

ShadowRun300 - Hopefully you will get a good day on Saturday to make up for it. We bought Dutch Blitz online. It is made in the USA so you should be able to get it easily enough. Hope you enjoy it!

Poor Aubrey. I'm glad you gave him a nice resting place.

Hope your mom enjoyed her birthday. I'm sure she loved spending time with her sons and family.

I am going to check out Dutch Blitz. We could use a little more of that kind of game and less television and video stuff!

Eager to read some of your zombie book.

What a kind gesture for your family to bury Aubrey and take it one step further to plant a tree over her remains. You guys rock! I can picture your mom at your house and being able to relax and enjoy her time with all of you.

Sorry about Aubrey. The tree is a very touching way to remember her.

At some point, I am going to have to get the GOT books. I am right now in the middle of a series of Jack Reacher books that my mom gave me.

Dutch Blitz sounds interesting. My family usually winds up playing Mexican Train - a domino game that a good number of people can play.
