Been a bit wet here.
I was up early this morning, taking the dogs for a nice, bracing morning walk.
In a monsoon.
OK, not that bad, but we all got pretty wet.
Frou Frou and Bryn were not pleased with me, but Custard did not care, he led the way, squelching around the fields, soaking up the mud and rain.
One odd thing about Custard is that he doesn't shake. Every other dog I have known will give itself a good shake when it gets wet. Not Custard. He just becomes waterlogged and waits for a good rub down when we get home. It took 2 towels to get he even remotely dry this morning...
Once dry, It was time for some breakfast - a nice warm drink and a couple of Struffins. These were made by Mrs RC, and are a wonderful cross between a muffind and apple strudel. She invented them, I came up with the name.
Then it was time to head to work - after feeding the rabbits, of course. I was just saddling up when a text arrived, asking me to stop off at Humphrey's field on the way to sort out a new delivery of hay.
At least the rain had stopped...
Then the journey to work, amid spray from the road that made me at least as wet as the rain. Argh...
Oh, and just to make life a little harder, I was not riding my own bike which is in the workshop having new gears, chain, front mech and bottom bracket fitted. I was riding Number One Son's bike, which is nice but has a smaller frame than I am used to. And it has rear suspension, which I am not used to - I keep thinking the back tyre is going down...
And it is raining again out side...
Squelch...

Interesting morning! You`re so lucky to ride your bike to work and enjoy the surroundings, even if they are very wet, And stopping off to give Humphrey a hand with his hay... Sounds marvellous. Aren`t you glad you dont have to spend 2 hours a day stuck in commuter traffic like some people around here.
Do you have to shower and put on clean, dry clothes when you get to work? Is there a locker room there for that? We are supposed to get snow today here. Glad I am not going out of town today but I will be going to a couple other towns tomorrow.
Shammickite - Anything is better than that!
CiCi - yes, we have showers and I have a little room where I can keep my changes of clothes safe.
The Struffins must have been the highlight of your day.
I can barely tolerate a run from the car to the indoors in the rain. I don't know how you manage riding in it. Brrr!
Now I feel awful for complaining about MY commute. At least I can stay dry and regulate the temperature.
Mrs. RC's struffins look fabulous! As Terri mentioned, it must have been the best part of your day!
Struffins! I love them just from the name!
It's this kind of weather that separates the true bimuters (hey, I can invent words too!) from the untrue. Enjoy that rear suspension :)
Terri - We have just hit a very wet patch, but generally I don't have to cycle in the rain THAT much. Famous last words, I probably just sentenced us to the wettest winter on record :-)
ShadowRun300 - The day got better later on ;-) But the Struffins were certainly in the highlights.
Abby - Bimuter? Hm, not sure I really want to be called that :-) Still hating the rear suspension, but should have the bike back for tomorrow's trips.
It's been raining over here too - which I quite enjoy - except when I have to walk in it!
Kept laughing about Custard's non shaking habit. Never known a dog that wouldn't shake - especially at the worst times. Funny.
