Checking in...

Just had 3 days off...

Tuesday was mainly spent at home - early dog walk, trip to the dentist (minor filling, did not even need a jab which was nice!), a bit of shopping, back home, cleaned out the rabbits, undercoated some new toy soldiers, walked the dogs again, played guitar, sorted out dinner...

Wednesday was our anniversary (28 years together) but the weather was pants so we popped in to town with our daughter, did some shopping, went home, watched In Bruges for the first time (really good, starting to forgive Colin Farrell for Alexander), then I made some Mexican for dinner.  Mmm, very nice too!

Yesterday was the 650 mile round trip to collect Number One Son from Uni.  It was a nice trip (except for the squalls of rain that kept sweeping over us at intervals), giving me plenty of time to catch up on the latest with my little brother who drove.  Once the car was loaded, we went to the on campus Chinese restaurant for lunch.  I had noodle soup with crispy pork....

The trip takes us along the busiest roads in the country....

Gah!  This is one of the reasons I never wanted to learn to drive - doing 60 with an 18 wheeler trying to drive up your ass is not my idea of fun...

Once home, we unloaded, unpacked and got him settled back in.  It is good to have our baby back again for the summer...

Happy Anniversary once again, but sorry the weather was pants. (I've never said that in my life, but I can't wait to say it again.)
Enjoy the summer with your "baby"! I bet he's excited to be home.
And yeah, 18 wheelers are scary on the highway. Nice you have a chauffeur!

Yeah, I had to read the "weather was pants" for context. Can't wait to use it myself!
Sounds like a good productive week, with an anniversary thrown in for icing. I'm sure it's nice to have the "baby" home, as ours is home too- along with all the "baby stuff".

I love the phrase about the weather being pants! Happy anniversary!

Happy Anniversary! And I too, love the pants thing. Does it mean a lot of rain at one time? In my neck of the woods we would call that a toad strangler or a gully washer. Also, I'm wondering how fast is 60 in the UK.

Glad you have your son home for a while.

Happy Anniversary again! I, too, like the pants reference. Glad to hear your trip to Uni went ok, if not a bit harrowing. Those tailgating semis can really give you some gray hair. I've seen In Bruges as well. Nice dark comedy. One of Colin's better films.

ShadowRun300 - Anything can be "pants", not just the weather...

Abby - Our baby has hooked his PC up to the TV in the sitting room...

Riot Kitty - Don't limit use of the word "pants" to the weather!

Ninny - Our 60 is the same as yours, mph. We don't use those sissy kilometres per hour :-)

Agg79 - Yes, I thought In Bruges trod a fine line very well.

Meleah Rebeccah - We are enjoying, thanks!

You packed a lot of activity into your three days, but it sounds like you got in a good mix of relaxing, fun, food and of course, responsibilities.

Yeah... driving can be scary. There are so many idiots on the road who seem to forget they are in charge of a huge machine that can kill someone if they don't pay attention and aren't respectful.

Good to hear you have your boy home for the summer! I'm surprised how late his school year goes! Kacey has been home for a month now and will go back in mid-August.

Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs. RC!
