Nerd Time

On and off over the last few months I have been building up a new army of toy soldiers - Ottoman Turks (around 1450AD).

Christmas will see the arrival of the final draft of reinforcements - some cannon and some poor quality infantry whose main role was to trip up the horses of charging knights or get impaled on lances, making the enemy easier meat for the better troops behind them.

Even more nerdy, another thing I have asked Santa for is a new Star Wars space ship game!  The basic game contains an X-Wing fighter and 2 Empire TIE fighters.  More ships are available for bigger games.  Will be a great game to play with friends and beer. Could even become a drinking game!

"Argh, I'm hit!" [Glug]

Will post pics and stories over the holiday...

Your setups remind me of epic battle movies. I think I'm in the mood for a Chinese one now! Nerd on!

Abby - I don't have Chinese - but I have been tempted by Samurai many times...

I think it's cool that you do things like this. Do you have a place where you can keep them set up constantly?
Just make sure you're a good boy for the next few days so Santa will bring the rest of your reinforcements.

And Mrs. RC doesn't mind those being all over?

Now I don't feel so odd for playing ANGRY BIRDS and getting frustrated when I can't kill all the pigs until my 50th try.

ShadowRun300 - No, they are all stored in boxes and brought out for games. I will have to wait until the kids leave home before I get a permanent games table.

Riot Kitty - No, they are all in boxes out of the way. My guitars take up more space...

Lotta Joy - This is one of my less odd collections. Maybe I should post pics of my Duckman army?

Another nice collection. Did you ever fill out your Gettysburg collection?

What is your source for all this manpower and hardware? Internet or local store/shoes?

Agg79 - No, my Gettysburg project stalled - I suspect that it will un-stall as my trip approaches! I get my stuff off the internet. There used to be a lot of dedicated shops in London, but no longer, sadly.

Love the colors in your armies. One of these days I should brush up on the history of the armies and battles you've mentioned here. I know so little!

The Star Wars game sounds cool. I'd like to see that one.
