Having a great summer so far - camping was great and my birthday was totally fab. Troubles that were worrying me before my break are working their way through, and I am increasingly taking the attitude that they are "somebody else's problem". I have been in the front line too long, someone else can take point!
Anyway, here are a few pics from our camping trip:
Strolling in the woods...
(My daughter, Mrs RC, my younger son (very tall for 11, as you can see!), with Custard closest. Number One Son is out of shot, holding Custard's lead).
Now that place would do us nicely...
We all thought that this log had a face...
This tree looked like it wanted to get us...
Meet Scruffy the Buzz the goat - his friend is called Woody...
Meet our alarm clock...
This year, Custard had his own camping bed!
Me: (looking at clear sky to the West): No, I think it will go around us.
Mrs RC (knowing how good I am at this sort of thing): I'll start getting everything into the tent, then.
We had around half an inch of rain in a couple of hours, but it came after our walk and cleared in time for me to cook dinner, so who could really complain?
We all love camping...
wReggie asked if Custard enjoyed the trip.
Custard loves camping. When we start to sort out he tents and stuff he knows what comes next and gets all excited. He spends the journey panting with excitement, eagerly looking out of the window. Good job it is a fairly short trip! One of his favourite things about camping (apart from the new sniffs to be found at every tree) is the food. What dog would not enjoy a bacon roll for breakfast, a lunch of a sausage roll from the butchers and a dinner of sausages and whatever else cooked on the barbecue? The only thing he is less keen on is when the chickens wander through the camp site, but he seems to get less scared each year.

Loads of fun. Did Custard enjoy the outing?
Sounds like a great week out camping with the family. Sometimes a week in the woods sorts out all sorts of problems.
I like how you not only got Custard his own bed, but you brought his bear as well.
wReggie - he loves it - see the PS on the post.
Agg79 - Oh yes, Custard always has a toy bear. I never even thought to mention it!
I noticed Custard's toy bear as well...Grover used to have one of those a long time ago that he'd bring everywhere! Oh man that is a cute dog on a cute bed!!
Glad you had a great time! If we end up back in Michigan as fast as we might...I'm hoping to squeeze in a camping trip before the end of the good weather too! This post makes me want it even more now!!
Teresa - you might get back that quickly? That would be soooooo cool! Best of luck with that!
What a cute puppy!!
I love Custard's camping bed! Where do you go camping? Is it an actually "campground" like they have here with amenities? And I saw the face in the log too! I recently paid a dollar for a cool piece of driftwood but I can't hang it up because I keep seeing an angry face - on both sides!!!
Glad you and the family had a good camping trip, even Custard. He is one spoiled pooch, what a great camping bed.
Kris - he knows it too!
Claire - We go to a farm that is around 20 miles from where we live - adventurous, huh? There is a building with toilets, showers, sinks for washing dishes etc. Just enough. Have you tried turning the log around to make the face happy?
TechnoBabe - Custard spoiled? Really?
You seem to have life pretty well sussed out, and clearly have a very close-knit, loving family. The pics are fab, and I love how always look for the positive, like as how the rain passed in time for your bbq. Custard is gorgeous, isn't he?
Shrinky - Mrs RC and I have devoted our life together to creating a close family. We hope that it will last our kids into adulthood. Custard is one of the most handsome dogs ever, IMO.
Love Custard's bed - what a good family he has :) Sounds like a fun time for all!
Custard's bed looks quite comfy! I think he is one spoiled dog! Glad you had fun and the rain didn't ruin things for you.
