Ouch. Not exactly in the plans I imagine. They say that rennovations are always like exploring new worlds. You never know what exciting (or terrifying) adventures lurk around the corner.
Maybe you will be remodeling more than just the kitchen? Yikes. Hope things get better and I admire that you and your wife are willing to take on a major makeover.
I remember when my husband was digging to put edging in around a garden on the side of the house and severed the main water line into the house - it was a regular 2 story geyser at first - and it was a Sunday - had to pay wknd rates for the plumber. It was Texas and they used plastic pipes buried close to the surface.

.... fix it. Or call Bob the Builder as you at it :)
I think this is God's way of telling you to put a toilet in your kitchen.
Come on, you know you want one.

Oh I HATE that!!!
There's never a dull moment when you're remodeling, is there? I hope that's the end of the surprises!
My eldest would love that - raiding the fridge whilst taking a dump (still giggling)..
