Animals

A while back, Mrs RC made a nest box for a pair of doves that were extremely bad at nest building.
The box worked, the doves moved in and here are the babies they had!

The adults have now rebuilt the nest and seem intent on having more babies before the summer ends...

When we found this in the garden I thought it was some sort of snake at first.  Turns out to be the caterpillar of a Giant Hawk Moth.

Having looked it up we decided that my mum has the ideal plants in her garden both for the caterpillar and the moth when it hatches.  We wish him well!

Bees and butterflies also seem to like our garden.

On my ride to work this morning I passed this.  The road is supposed to be closed for repairs, but at least one vehicle came this way last night.

There are a lot of people who just will not get rid of their junk properly and just dump it.  Some call them animals, but I don't think that this term is at all appropriate, do you?

Well, look at the dove kids! I remember when they were just glints in their inept parents' eyes!
The creepy crawlies are a bit creepy, but whoever dumped that trash is lower than scum!

Hmmm... animals would never stoop so low!
Lovely fluffy baby doves. Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Dove. And the giant hawk moth caterpillar is rather splendid, isn't he? I hope he'll be happy in your mum's garden.

The dove babies are sweet! Then again, I'm a sucker for almost any kind of animal baby. I saw some baby turkeys last night on the side of our road and even exclaimed that they were cute.

That caterpillar is amazing. I've never seen anything like it. I probably wouldn't have gotten close enough to figure out what it really was.

Awww! You guys are grandparents! Hopefully mom and dad will be better at raising them than building their nest.
That caterpillar is unbelievable! I wouldn't want to be around when it turns into a moth.
And calling those guys animals is an insult to animals. Who DOES stuff like that?

You're right. Animals are much neater and more considerate.
