Actually...

As the start of the Olympics drew near we became intrigued by the opening ceremony - little hints of what might be involved had us tuning in to what turned out to be, for us at least, a rather spectacular event.

The next day it seemed only natural to check out the sports events themselves.  And we have been watching, on and off, since then!  For the Brits there has been a great mix of triumph, utter failure and disappointment (especially when the Japanese appealed against the scoring for one of their gymnasts which bumped us to Bronze from Silver!).  And there have been the inevitable drug cases and those badminton teams who were trying to lose, but overall I have been surprised at how interested I have been!

We are off camping soon - the weather is looking mixed, but it is still going to be fun.  Time away from computers and xBoxes, playing family games, going for walks etc - hard to beat.  Although Number One Son might miss his new PC...

Yes, 3 monitors...

Are you taking Custard's hammock?

No, he seems a bit big for it these days - he likes to spread himself out more than he used to.

Glad you're enjoying being in the thick of the Olympics. I admit I've not watched much. I mostly like the track events, and they are last. That badminton strategy was a bit silly!

Enjoy your camping! Sounds fun. I will not let my oldest see your son's 3 monitors or he'll be ordering two more!

I've been watching the Olympics too, but mostly recorded highlights because of the time difference. But I watched some of the rowing live this morning... saw GB women win the gold. Congratulations!
I love watching the Olympics... I think just getting to qualify on an Olympic team for your country is a great achievement, never mind winning the medals.
Canada isn't doing too well.... no golds as yet. But good luck to them all I say.
Have fun camping, hope it doesn't rain on you, well, not every day anyway.

And yes, that opening ceremony was GREAT! Loved every minute of it. Especially the Queen and 007.

I'm more interested in the drama than the actual sports, how silly is that? :)

We've been trying not to watch the Olympic hoopla, but it has been hard not to avoid all the updates/national news broadcasts. Despite all of the complaints/grief/frustration, at least you are closer than we are to the action. Hope you can enjoy the hoopla while it lasts for next week or so.

In the meanwhile, I hope you are having a great week off camping and the weather cooperates. And I am jealous of #1 son's monitor set up.

Surprisingly, I am watching the Olympics more than I thought I would. At times, it's kinda hard to avoid, but some of the events have been pretty exciting.
Glad you're enjoying your few weeks off!
And I'm like Abby, not planning to show the 3 monitor setup to any of my boys....

I love the Olympics and watch every chance I get. I don't typically watch any televised sporting events, but the Olympics is different! So exciting!

Three monitors! Wow! I am hoping for a second one at work, but I'm not sure what I would do with three.
