Drifting

Yeah, I seem to have lost focus lately.

Still waiting for the band to have another get together, issues with places to rehearse etc causing endless shifting of dates.  I am also thinking more about the sort of stuff we should be playing, increasingly favouring a shift to late '60s and early 70s rock.  Free, Bad Company, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Hendrix, maybe a bit of Cream.  Thinking about it, if we go this way we would end up sounding like the soundtrack of a 'Nam movie!

I have been reading the Game of Thrones books recently - nearing the end of the last one, which is getting scarey (I have been imersed in that world for so long it will be hard to take a break!) and also promising.  I have let the zombie novel slide for some time now - last time I set to writing some more, I failed to notice that the laptop was going to reboot for an update, which it promptly did, erasing over an hour's hard typing.  I have promised myself that, once Game of Thrones is out of the way I will return to my book.  When I was on Lundy, I read a section to the group there and they all gave very positive reactions. I want to return to it...

I have also let my toy soldier painting slide - I still have about 30 half painted Vikings to finish for McBeth's army, then I need to buy and paint the cavalry to complete the army.  Oh, and I might have to paint some more Galwegian mercenaries, depending on how large a contingent I end up going for...

The weeks are just too short right now.  Good job there is so little to watch on TV at the moment!  The only thing we are watching at the moment is the new Fargo series, which is quite entertaining.  Is Fargo really like that?  I thought there would be more to it!  Most of the time we just watch a bit of news to see what is happening out there - very little of it is right now - vanishing planes, sinking ferries, The Ukraine...  There must be some good news out there?  Go on, give me some good news!

I think spring is usually a "drifty" time of year. Is for me anyway. There probably is good news out there, but most people seem to like horror.

I've heard that Fargo the series is much better than the movie. I have tried to watch the movie a few times and just couldn't get through it. But I will say that Fargo is definitely not like the movie portrayed it. My son lives there and loves it. It's a mix of suburbia and rural areas. Best of both worlds in his mind!

Spring seems to be having the effect on you that winter has on me. I'm feeling motivated and find myself getting back in a groove with the shift in seasons.

Looking forward to you getting back to the zombie book. I'm ready to read it! :-)

You lost a whole hour of typing? No wonder you gave it up for a while. I'd have been so upset! Good to hear you're willing to get back to it though!
Hopefully you'll find a place where you and the guys can meet regularly for band practice. My hubby plays solo - and uses our bedroom to practice. I'm sure Mrs. RC wouldn't mind....
Here's hoping for longer weeks! I know I could use 'em!

Abby - Yeah, good news does not seem to sell does it?

Terri - I was thinking that Fargo was where your son was - it does not look good on the TV show either! OK, I will dedicate the next section I write to you.

ShadowRun300 - band practice in the bedroom? That would be hilarious! We have taken the smallest bedroom to give the kids more space - the drums would have to be set up ON THE BED! That would lead to a lot of rock and roll!

I find myself drifting now as well. Cannot seem to find my focus, so I am jumping from project to project. I had hoped to get things done this month but the month (May) seems to have gotten away from me. I have tried to follow GOT series, never started the first season. I may go start with the book as well. Right now I am following House of Cards (2nd season) while waiting for the next season of Walking Dead and Justified. Haven't yet started with Fargo but it does look enticing.

Agg79 - I can thoroughly recommend the GOT books, well written and plenty to keep you going!

Some good news - you may have read that blog where someone sent me a nasty 800-word email. My dad made an $800 donation after that - $1 for every word I had to read :)
