I just met British TV legend David Bellamy!
He gave a short speech at the Uni that I work at. I even got to shake his hand and have a little chat! A really nice guy.
For those who do not know who he is, he used to do nature programmes on the TV, often looking at subjects that others steered away from such as the wonders of the African Dung Beetle. He always presented with an irrepressible enthusiasm that was really catching - age has not dulled this either! He finished his speech by telling us that on a hot day, plant leaves produce alcohol, which explains why butterflies fly the way they do.

How exciting! Did you get pics with him?
Terri - No, I took pics of colleagues and students with him, but didn't think to hand over the camera! DOH!
That IS exciting!
And who knew about the drunken butterflies?? That cracks me up! :)
Keewl! He's had one interesting career. And gwapenuts reminds me of Euell (Ever eat a pine tree?) Gibbons.
I've never heard of him, but he sounds like a great guy. Dung beetles are fascinating!
ShadowRun300 - It is a great idea. isn't it?
Agg79 - He is interesting - one of the few to stand up and argue with the "We're doomed" crowd.
Abby - I am not surprised that you haven't heard of him, I think he mainly worked for the BBC on shows that were not sold overseas. And yes, Dung beetles are great.
