I had it all planned...

Things have been a bit hectic recently as we get ready for the new year at Uni, so I had planned a nice easy, one-braincell day.

I had saved up a pile of photocopying.

Don't laugh!

I know you all know what is coming next!

Yes, the day I want to just feed stuff into the copier it has decided to be a git.

You don't really want me to take that stuff in through the auto-feeder do you?

Oopsie, mis-fed again! Ha ha, can you find the paper? No, not there, look again! OK, you got one bit but there is another piece. Where is it? Not telling!

Don't look at me, you asked for it on pink paper! Yes you did, bitch!

So you see what I am having to contend with? I used to think of it as HAL, but no it is much more malicious than that...

Anyone seen the Stephen King movie "Maximum Overdrive"?

We should be in control of the machines, not the other way around!

Oh, I used to have quite a time with copies "back in the day" myself! Now...it's just laptop computers that talk to me like that!

I dont' care if it's can't be scientifically proven...I know for a fact that computers can sense when you "really need" them to work and that's when they start getting all mouthy and lippy! Every. single. time.

Teresa - I think it could be scientifically proven. Get 100 people on computers who really need to do something quickly - see how many had sudden, unexplained problems...

Did you try stilettos? I hear xerox machines LOVE stilettos!

I love Jen's suggestion!!! They moved my team to a new area and we have a different copier - and it is the copier from HELL - I go back and visit my old nice one all the time and I don't have to wear stilettos!

I pet my computer and talk sweetly to it when she starts to act up, seems to smooth out all the wrinkles!!!

Stilettos are de riguer for me and all things electronic go on the fritz the minute I go near them. I need a better plan!!

Jen - The thing already called me a bitch! Do you really think stilettos would improve things?

Claire - At least you still get to see your old one - our old one was taken away!

Kiki - I can just see the reactions of my colleagues if I started sweet talking the copier! That is yet another one of those things that a girl can do but a guy can't! So stilettos don't work! Crocs didn't work yesterday either!

Ah, I like Kiki's idea...talk to it and pet it. I'll try that next time. Besides that...Chuck always gets really frusterated with me when I hit it so that'll make him happy. :)
